does anyone know any good info on this car? im looking for all the info, specs, # built, pictures, anything. i think that there is 4 of them and a chassis/frame that went up for auction a while ago but im not too sure. also i know theres one or was one for sale in london and it was about $3.5 million. the main reason i care is i saw the car on the Victory by Design show and loved the car. the car he used was the music guy Knopflers(sp?)car and loved everything about the car.

    thanks

WTF? ... are you refering or making a comparison to the Chrysler Hemi engine. If so you should be ashamed of yourself.

These engines do indeed have a hemispherical combustion chamber, which is what the Hemi refers (ie. Chrysler). This engine though puts the Chrysler to shame in the fact it has twin overhead cams operating the valves ... not pushrods.

Chrysler are by far not the only ones to create an engine with a hemisherical combustion chamber ... but maybe the last.

All Alfa Romeo engines until the Alfa Sud and more modern engines had hemispherical combustion chambers, as did the Jaguar XK twin cam, many Ferrari engines and just about all Maserati engines (very similar in design to Alfa Romeo engines and the Jag).

Hemispherical combustion chambers went out of fashion (correctly) in about the late 60's due to requiring a dome on the piston and thus a heavy piston. Cosworth really showed the way with the DFV F1 engine and produced the modern combustion chamber which is refered to as 'pent-roof' I believe and is much smaller than the hemispherical and uses a near flat piston.

Almost every engine now copies this design, especially if 4 valve.

ps: Chrysler make great v8 engines ... er, did atleast, and I am not sure when the Hemi came out ... but they were copying a design that was started by Henry for Peugeot in the 1900's, just using pushrods.
