Hello, if anyone has an original - please no repro - air filter box(see pic att.) for sale, please let me know. How long are the air intake trumpets in the original air boxes(see pic att.)? Thanks Wolf Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
The photo on the left is for an early 3500GT with the air cleaner mounted on the carbs, the one on the right is the later style air plenum with the filter element on the right fender (similar to the injected cars). Which one do you need? Ivan
Ivan, aren't both photos of a Vignale Spyder? I don't know of a 3500 GT/T with cowl supports. Also, you can see the dash cluster of the Vignale Spyder (injected and converted) on the last photo. Yes? At any rate I may have one.
The second photo is of spyder #2779. I know as I took that photo when I owned the car. Both the coupe and the spyders used the same air cleaner boxes. The early cars had the filter mounted on the carbs and the later cars had a serpentine filter in the right front fender. The air plenum of the later cars looks like this photo. Sorry for the delay in answering your replies. I need the filter box for Vignale # 1349, GT(no injection), photo attached. AFAIK this has to be the one, as pictured (from #767) isn't it? The photo, where you can see the trumpets, I posted only to illustrate what I meant with "How long are the air intake trumpets " Sorry Ivan if i missed to mention that it is your photo showing #2779 I am not sure, whether the trumpets now on the carbs have the right length(100mm) to fit perfect in the filter box. Vignale #1349 would original most likely had the later style air plenum. Do you have the filter box that goes on the right front fender or is it also missing? Personally I find the early style air filter more attractive so if you are not hung up on originality I would go for the early style. Ivan
Ivan, thank you. I have to check as to the filter box in the right front wing next Wednesday, when I am back at home. Do you have a VIN(-range), when the new airfilter boxes on Weber-Vignales were used first time? Anyone photos of the engine compartment of #1345, sold by Gooding, Monterey 2009? Wolf
I do not have a range. I do know spyder #1129 had the later style. My guess is that sometime in late 1960 or early 1961 the change was made. Ivan Ivan
