if it is brand new, and that's the color you want, go for it.

it will depreciate just as much as the regular spyders.
perhaps it will worth 5-10% more than a regular one.

you know that the 06's also can be ordered with the same 'anniversary blue' metallic, as well, in full GranSport specs.

not exactly sure if the carbon fiber tonneau cover can be found on the 06 gransport spyders though.

I remember seeing a 90th anniversary on the floor of Miller Motorcars for $125k over the summer- has the sticker price fallen or did the car have more options?

$85k is basically sticker for a new Maser- but '02s can be had easily in the $50's.. As it is a special edition it should hold up better than the earlier model cars- but it'll probably still take a beating.. I'm guessing a good compro would be the Gransport vs. the Coupe?

This edition should hold its value pretty well due to rarity.

To give you some idea (from a VERY quick search):

    Maserati Gransport MSRP: $98,172

Current Ebay Listings (buy it now or high price):

-$91,000 buy it now, $84,000 current bid, 95 miles, burgendy
-$85,000 buy it now- 1647 miles, Silver
-$83,000 buy it now, $70,000 current bid- 5300 miles, grey
-$72,000 current bid- 1200 miles, silver

    Some other info:

My personal favorite used car site- graph's all attainable classified and auction information on the net- pretty nifty:
    http://www.autobaron.com/cars_for_sale/maserati/gransport/2005/

    Info they had:
-1000 mile Gransport did not meet the reserve on eBay; had a buy it now of $84,000 and only hit $80,000.
-800 mile Gransport is for sale for $85,000 from a Ferrari/Maserati Houston
    etc

Looks like you can readily get 1000 mile Gransports for ~$85k, nearly $15k off of the MSRP- or 15% in one years depreciation.

Conversely, the Maserati Spyders have an MSRP of $91,415 and the most recent info from Manheim (the prices of MY04 as 05 doesn't have sufficient information):

    Above: $66,735 @ 2,515 miles
    Average: $59,874 @ 5,029 miles
    Below: $53,013 @ 7,544 miles

    That's $30,000 or nearly 33% in a year- alot!

From what I understand Maserati intends on making 180 90th Anniversary cars worldwide, 90 of those for North America- and I couldn't get a solid number on the Gransport but as per this FerrariChat thread (http://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/showthread.php?t=44891&highlight=maserati+production), there are either 310 being produced worldwide and 155 coming to the US, or 300 coming to the US (not sure)- which is nearly 2x as much.

With that said, as the Spyder is 1/2 as common, it'd probably depreciate less than the Gransport- but there are tons of factors that'll effect it's long term value IMO. Is the special trim and carbon fiber options in the '06 Spyder? Will the '06 Spyder have a power increase? Will Maserati be sold off completely from Ferrari and have to change their dealer network? Etc..

As I'm a non owner half your age w/ much less experience in this arena, you'd know better than me..

    Hope I helped a bit.

I owned a 2003 Maserati Spyder after selling a 2003 360 Coupe. I loved the Maser and am looking to get a slightly used Gransport...

I don't think you will regret it for a second!

Get the GS! U will not regret it. I had the 328, 355, testa, 3200, 4200...and the GS is the best of the lot.

yup Maserati will definately be spun off from Ferrari...but the transition to Alfa will take a few years to iron out.

But who paid MSRP? I got a little over 15% off even with ordering and could have done even better taking one off lot. That brings your 33% depreciation down considerably

Does the '90' indicate the percentagae of anticipated 5 year depreciation?

Maserati depreciations are not any different than those of a AMG considering dealers routinely will give you close to $20 off MSRP. Also, I believe that the Maserati image and exposure has improved enough that used sales are taking a bite off the 911/M3 market.
