    Congrats, Greg!
Does that mark the end of procuring new sheet metal? I am curious about the condition of the underside in front.

Thankfully all the sheet metal i required to be purchase has been secured.
A new RH rear quarter panel has been fabricated. The LH quarter panel needs to be repaired as does the inner RH wheel arch. The sheet metal attaching the suspension towers has also been cutout and replaced. Se attached photo.

This car looks to have led a rather rough life. I've never seen a Bora quite this rusted out. Good job bringing it back. Be sure and properly paint all of this unlike what the factory with these cars.

I used a pipe painting attachment for my spray gun to insert in all of the frame rails in that engine compartment and those sill reinforcements.

Only on the surface. Very different in terms of their purpose and construction. They had the same transaxle ...

Yes, you are right about "only on the surface"... but what fantastic surfaces that same designer created in both cases :)

Yes, agreed. Driving the Bora, you are constantly reminded how well advanced it was for its time. I do love the lines of each and love the similarities and differences of their design, which make each special in their own right.

That's the downside of an English car. You can be assured i am not going to this extent without treating all the affected parts that are now visible with the removal of the fenders.
The sills etc will also get a going over even though the new fabricated parts are of galvanized plate.

Well I was lucky as I got mine with 3,000 miles on it and it never saw salt road duty. So when the engine compartment and rear suspension were restored not long after that I was able to to take all the steps to preserve the car from such damage.

Good luck with you efforts, seeing fenders and some other steel replaced on one of these is a first for me. These are solidly put together cars except for the factory paint and rust proofing which was horrendous. They were only supposed to last 5 years and then scraped. That from the designer's lips.

Got invited to a private enthusiast's BBQ in upstate New York this past weekend. 'Marco' and I made the 2 hour nearly-rain-free trip and stayed overnight. Among our host's ample collection are a QPI, a QPIII, a Merak SS ...plus two Bora's.. so he was happy to see mine. Everyone enjoyed the evening, we took each other out for spins in the local environs, the Bora was a popular choice, and as a gift from our host we each received portraits of our vehicles.

Thanks to Blake the photog, with no prep, surely not easy to pull of at nightfall... (this is the trick to getting a good picture of a US spec Bora: take the picture in the dark... :))

    Cheers,

Finally seeing progress in my Bora restoration. Motor on the back of the tilt tray heading to the engine builder in July 2017. Almost completed motor photos taken yesterday.

No reason i just like the understated look and gives the cam covers more prominence especially with the highlighted lettering.
