What is the realiability of driving a coupe f1 daily? (in michigan) (whilst living on a dirt road) (but to be paved in may) Would it be a disapointment driving it daily after switching from a merc sl500? Do any of you think if my dad purchased one would he be able to drive it daily? I ask this because my dad has his main central lab in an area where crime is at a mediem. And plus he is afraid his employes can think wrong of him. He is already pushing it with his sl500, lexus ls460l, and 2007 esclade. how much does it cost to buy a new nicely equipped coupe f1?
    Thanks alot,
    Vic

There is a huge difference between the SL500 and the Maser F1.

The smoothness and reliable shifting of the SL500 is one I know and miss. Since you are familiar with it as well, you'd find the Maser a big difference.

The Maser F1 is a bit slow in shifting different from that of Ferrari's F1.

I have a 6 speed 360 and prefer that over the F1. I drove both and came to that conclusion for which I am still pleased.

You had best drive one first for more than a few blocks to experience that tranny first hand.

I daily drove an 02 Spyder and am now daily driving an 06 Coupe, they are very reliable and solid cars. Most other Maserati owners are having the same experience.

If you're comparing one to an SL500 you are missing the idea of the Maserati, they are two different cars. Also if you don't like the F1 , why can't 6spd be an option?

New coupes run around $84-105k MSRP generally, you can get at least $10 knocked off MSRP, I bought my base model coupe GT from Maserati of Minneapolis for $70,500

I use my 4200 F1 Maserati Coupe every day - a 9 mile commute each way plus all the other things - supermarket, golf course etc etc & long journeys too. No problem at all. I live in Somerset, UK, lots of hills, dirt tracks etc - great for windy roads - hill starts were the tricky thing but after 2 weeks no probs at all.

I see no problem. When I test drove the car - I did so from the office to home to ensure it would be OK.

    Hope this helps :D

    Please keep us posted.

We think his dad's legit. We still don't know if his dad gives a **** about all the input that VK solicits on this board for the "car of the week" or even knows about all the personal info VK divulges on this board.

You can drive an F430 in the snow with winter tires with no problems. I've spoke to a dude who did that. And his house was on a hill.

Besides, the NEW coupe will most likely have an auto transmission.
