which do you think is the better all around car and will hold its resale value
...if you are looking for a car that keeps you involved. The Bimmer can be driven without giving it a second thought and doesn't require any attention on your part. The Maserati, on the other hand, requires that you stay on top of things. If you want it to be more of a driver's car, go with the Maserati. If nothing else, people will take you seriously.
Down with Bangle and his art decho styling. Go with the Maser. you're comparing a near exotic to a BMW. In terms of driveability.... an Italian woman is always more high maintenance than a German.
Agreed, but if it was my money go for a lightly used Maserati coupe with some warranty - resale is actually better on BMW's, even if Bangle has ruined them on the outside. Only the new 3-series BMW looks good, IMO.
the 645 is newer, has more tech into it, modern inside out and is probably the smoother car overall, but a maserati is a maserati, and way more exclusive.
Resale? BMW Better all around? subjective, but I'd still go with the BMW. modern, better technology. you would be driving a very safe high performance car without sacrificing much, if anything. Better sex appeal? Maserati Status symbol in California? Maserati. everyone has a BMW already Status symbol elsewhere? maybe BMW. I dont know if people know what maserati really is. looks better at the track? I am undecided on this one Got an exotic already? BMW. Looking for a cross between exotic and practical daily driver? Maserati.
Believe it or not, one "legit" reason is that the Coupe has a bigger rear seat area than the 645. I looked at both, and couldn't fit in the back seat of the 645, but can in the Coupe. You can't even compare the interiors - the Maserati is sooooo much nicer. Loves? A lot... - The engine is a thing of beauty - It hauls a$$ - It looks spectacular - It corners well - Interior comfort and styling - That V8 rumble - Uniqueness - Good A/C system Complaints? A few... - The CC just plain sucks launching from a start in 1st or, god forbid, backing up a slight incline. - The radio reception is horrible - non existent for AM, marginal for FM. - The nav system doesn't show streets (only the street you're on) - Easy to mess up your seat position getting in and out of the car (hitting the controls) - Reaching back for the seatbelt can dislocate a shoulder <g>
I actually think the 645i is the most exotic looking BMW since the M1...I would still buy the Maserati though.
For me, it's like asking if I want to be shot in the head with a 9mm or a .45, both options stink. The Maser will face some pretty harsh depreciation, even if you buy a used one. The service network is pretty thin, and I'd be willing to bet you'll need it. Yes, it sounds great and goes fast and looks good, but she'll be a cruel (and expensive) mistress. The BMW will hold its value better, will have fewer service issues, but will never excite. The styling leaves a lot to be desired, and the performance, while good, isn't great. If you have to have a new(er) car, take your money to the Porsche dealer and buy a 997. Better resale, equal performance, may not be the most exclusive, but a good looker, and a good car all around. If I had $70k in my pocket and went looking for a coupe, I'd find a very nice 993 Turbo and keep it until I die. My $.02 worth.
I assume you're talking about the AMV8 Vantage due out next year. The estimated MSRP is close to $120k. For that much, he could buy the BMW and a used Maserati.
My apologies, I thought it was to be a sub 100k car. Damn, I must have misinterpreted the Euro Well I vote for the Maserati Grandsport. Panoz is based in north Atlanta, and I saw this recently. Gorgous.
The Maser is better in every possible way. Except, reliability. Granted, teh Maser costs about $15k more.
Agreed, unless you're a soccer mom who only cares about features. The GS is very different than the BMW the GS is a drivers car. the bmw is without question more practical. Case in point. Cup holders.
