I just test drove an '02 Maserati coupe that is quite beautiful and very ferrari-esque. It has the paddle shift. However when in a higher gear ie 3rd and when slowing down or coming to a complete stop I noticed it made slight clunky sounds when I guess it was downshifting. Is this normal? Other than that the car had remarkable acceleration and was very driveable.

Congtatulations, I have an '02 Coupe as a daily driver, 2 years plus, no real problems. The noise you hear is indeed downshifting. The 2002 has less sound insulation than 2004 on so you hear alot more mechanical sounds, which in my opinion is better. Also, the F1 software is more aggressive, but also more twitchy than later models. It is far more sportier than the 2005. Enjoy it and luck you.

I have an '04 C.C. and if I could I would ask the stealer to revert the software to the '02 version. As stated above, more aggressive and faster shifts.

The noise is completely normal. I never thought I'd miss that noise...

When our dealer installed the new clutch update, he also installed the improved soundproofing.

My wife always complained about the clicking and clunking sounds when the car rolled to a stop. One the way home from the dealer she said, "I told you the transmission was broken - after they fixed it, there's no more of those clunking sounds!" :)

    Yes, Dear, whatever you say...
