We drove Ghibli #1103 to the Hilton Head Concours last weekend and I am happy to report the car drove very well to and from the event (6 hours each way). As an added bonus we brought back home some new display hardware as the car came second in its class.

    Lovely car Bart!
Is the color Celeste Chiaro? If so, is this the same color as used on Merak? Sometimes the factory use the same name on different colors.

    Best regards

    Hello Marius,

The color on my Ghibli was described as Blu Celeste Luce metallisato. We could not find the recipe with Maserati but weer fortunate to find some non corroded / bleached original color when taking the windows out. Even the door frames had turned paler over the years. My car stayed the first ten years of existence in Lebanon where the sun had its influence. With modern equipment we made a 3D measurement and had the color made.
Later I learned that the light blue was mostly applied on customer request. Basically a new owner could get any color on his new car at that time.
Also some Khamsins were painted in this color, would love to see one. Found one VIN but it was resprayed in re-sale red, pity.
I do not know if any Merak obtained the same color.

    Ciao,

    Bart

    Thanks Bart and Walter!

I have a -76 Merak SS that's light blue metallic, and still original paint. It's so faded that I struggle to get the right impression. I'm not sure my car is Celeste Chiaro, but may order the correct papers from Collina to get the paint code.

I understand that Celeste Chiaro was a common color on Merak, but may choose another blue color used om Maserati's in the 70ies instead when the car will get a full respray. Blu Celeste Luce metallisato is a good candidate, as I think it looks great on our Ghibli Bart.

    Cheers
    Marius

Well done Hendrik! Giugiaro created one of the finest looking cars ever to turn a wheel. The treatment of the surfaces and blending of shapes on such a large car is nothing short of brilliant, and the lighting in your photos shows it perfectly. In my opinion it makes a Daytona look rather uninspiring. Many thanks for sharing-some more shots in the spring maybe??

    Very best regards.

    Mark.

Beautiful car and gorgeous shots taken during the "magic hour" just before sunset. The dark color of the car suits it well.

    Fantastic job!

    Hello,
I'm glad to hear you like the pictures :) .

It was the first time i tried HDR-photography (except some tests at home) and its amazing how easy you can do pictures with these colors and contrast.
But you must must be careful not to overact it.

I like how the buckles frome the body get visible due to the different lightness of sky and ground (especially the buckle on the side from the heatlamp to the tail light).

@Mark: thank you. Of course i will try to do some more fotos in spring, there must be a nice play of colors.

By the way: if someone wants the photos in better resolution, please PM me your e-mail and i will send them to you.

    Best regards, Hendrik

Summertime, a beautiful day and working in the office, the view from my office window makes it lighter. Specially after an early morning detour through the country lanes and fields!....
