If this is an early car it will also have a dual clutch plate rather than one big clutch plate. They are very difficult to adjust and keep adjusted. They can be converted though. The early cars tend to run warmer and then there are the Weber's . They are sandcast, beutiful, but no air bypass screws, so the only way to adjust the air bypass is to tweek butterfly's.

Yes but I rode in it in Geneva briefly and it felt new: very impressive.

    Here's a question for walter :D

Where is the Ghibli from the movies La Piscine ( Alain Delon and Romy Shneider ) . And there was another one in a Vittorio Gassman movie with JL Trintignan where Gassman played a businessman accused of rape by Trintingan who was a judge ?

    And here comes Walters answer:

the car in "La Piscine/The Swimmingpool" was chassisnumber #115.554. Delivered on 12. July 1968 to a Mr. Kalfunder. The car was in green color. Little later the car was send back to THEPENIER, the French importer in St. Cloude, Paris and repainted in burgundy. It seems that the car was then in the hands of the production company of that film and registered TY-15-75. In August 1968 the car was sold to a Mr. Real del Sarte. What happened then is unclear. Confirmed is that the car was scrapped in 2002. The engine survived and was sold seperately.

No ifos about the other cars. Do you have photos from the film and ...what movie was it?

    Ciao!
    Walter

    Real del Sarte?!

I raced with one of them in karting in France in 1986 in the team of Marc Boulineau (who himself raced against Senna in the karting WC a few years before). Old wealthy family, based in Paris, have not been in touch since but I am sure you can track them down: not a common name.

I love that film and not just because of Romy Schneider!

Maurice Ronet was a real car guy, he had an Espada I believe amongst other exotics

Thanks Giotto! The driving sequence with Alain Delon driving the car on this long road up the hill is fantastic. Footage is interrupted by cuts of the camera that goes straight over Romy Schneider`s naked body.....huhuhuuuuu....(those were the 70ies!!)! Very nice engine-sound although! A pitty that the car doesn`t exist anymore!

    Ciao!

As a result of a severe accident about 10, 12 years ago. The engine survived and was sold after scrapping the car.

Thank you for the info, Walter. Sad to hear that...
I took the two pictures below at the Nürburgring in 1985. I like to walk around the racetracks. There is always such a surprise between the other parked cars.

    Giotto,
nice photos! Unfortunately we don`t know the VIN of both Spyder (the VIN`s are located on the lower left corner under the frontscreen on the dash). In particular the silver one interests me as it is registered in Duesseldorf, the city where I live.

    Ciao!

All what I can say is that the red car seems to have a French temporary plate (...W75).

On the silver one the exhaust appears to be angled towards the center of the car instead of the outside.

What is being called the red car above could well be a car I knew in paris 25 years ago: it was owned by Gerard Rudy, living in the 8th arrondissement, I rode in the car a couple of times, it is a sort of moccha color. There is an automatic Ghibli spyder in Florida in poor condition in the same color.

is an indredible movie database and proceeding by elimination you will be able thanks to their search engine to quickly zero in the name of that film: good luck!
