Hi all, Leaving for work in Los Angeles next week, and was wondering if there are any special things I should see when I'm there. I will drive from San Fransisco on Monday and I do not need to be in LA before Thursday. Only interested in Maserati related things to see. Any ideas?
Welcome to the Riverside International Automotive Museum It's not obvious from their website, but they have a very large collection of Maserati road cars. This link gives a better idea - Riverside International Automotive Museum | Riverside CVB
Riverside is a very cool place to visit. I recommend it. You may want to stop at Fantasy Junction and Symbolic if you like looking at something for sale. Both have interesting Maserati at the moment. The Blackhawk Muesum currently has one of the prototype Vignale Spyders #505 and a 5000. It is located in Danville, Ca. They also have about 20 Ferraris and several Aston Martins as well as three of the Alfa B.A.T. cars on display and two very rare Lancias. I also agree the Riverside Muesum has the best collection of Maseratis I have seen anywhere. Certainly worth the trip. I also have a Mistral, Bora, Ghibli and Vignale Spyder. If you are interested in seeing them send me an email. I am around all week and retired so available.
Thanks, all! I will definitely check out both museums. If possible I would really like to meet up, Eugene, as I am restoring my Mistral at the moment. Would be great to see a car that is all done. I will send you an email.
Tried to stop by Blackhawk today, but it was closed Tuesdays. We then moved on to visit Eugene, and what a nice collection of old Masers! My favorite is still the Mistral, and the golden color was beautiful. I even got a ride in it, and a beer before moving on in our rented Camaro. Thank you Eugene, really looking forward to seeing you in Modena next year. If you are ever in Norway - let me know.
Forgot to update this thread. I am now back in Norway. After visiting Eugene we went to Riverside. Eugene gave me the number to Doug, the owner of the museum, and we met him there. Really nice guy. A guided tour and the possibility to take seat in the cars was great. Even got to see the next door warehouse and the cars there. No question about it, my favorite was the A6G 2000. We also got to meet Doug at Fontana a few days later at the Indy car finals. Great guy! A trip to the Petersen Museum in LA was also worth the trip, mainly because of the Cisistalia. Anyhow; California is truly a great piece of the world.
