Hello I could not find any Indy picture thread on the forum, let´s give it a try! Here is a picture on my newly bought Maserati Indy 4.7 America. I drove it home the other day, almost 500kms, and it ran fine. Thanks Jorgen Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
Hello Today I adjusted the carbs on the Indy 4.7. They were running lean, all eight of them, much improved response and sound on idle and low rpm. I would like to know what sparkplugs you prefer on these engines. This engine has NGK BP6ES. I would appreciate to have the stock number on the oil filter as well. Mann, Fram or any other common brand here in Europe. Any leads appreciated. Thanks Jorgen
Congratulations! Beautiful car. I looked at this very one some years ago, but finally decided on my Khamsin instead. /Henrik
That's a very good looking automobile you have there. Congratulations! Please post some pics of the front/nose, I always found that the best part of the Indy, which was overall a very lucky strike of the pen anyway. A very stylish car. Enjoy her in good health.
Good thread idea Jorgen! Yes the Indy is the quintessential Grand Tourer and you can truly fit four people and their luggage in it, yet it is still beautiful. Will never forget my first ride ever in a Modenese car at the age of ten in an Indy with my late father in Bad Godesberg Germany: I said can we go to the Autobahn papa? He said oui and that is the day I was hooked It was light blue, I spent many hours trying to find the photos in the attic a few years ago but they have vanished...argh! First photo is one I took at a Swiss event in 1977 or 78 with my little Instamatic, I think I posted it here somewhere ages ago, the other two were from an early Granturismo Indy comparison, copyright to the authors. best regards, Marc Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
Hello Thanks for the nice words. The Indy is a good looking car in the GT 2+2 segment, no doubht. This one has power steering which is helping a lot. Some more pictures! Thanks Jorgen Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
Hello I have two colours in red metallic in my list and they are: Rosso Rubino metallic Rosso Cordoba metallic Could it be one of them? Jorgen
I just had a bad, bad thought, but have to ask. I've seen several Masers chopped, Ghibli's of course, and I saw a chopped Khamsin once in Essen, Germany, but has anyone ever chopped an Indy? I think it could actually look fantastic! No, I'm not advocating the idea, just curious.
Hello: Ulf and Jorgen (God morgon!) the red car is not a photoshop: I believe it is indeed roso rubino. I can't remember where I found those photos, it was right after the Granturismo came out but do believe the cars were registered in Austria (not Australia). Jack you saw the one and only Khamsin spyder: AM120US1030 (see my full history of it in Classic & Sports cars June 2008 issue). There was also a Ghibli targa, a Kyalami chopped in Germany or Austria but as far as I know no Indy. best regards, Marc
Thanks Marc, I'll have a look for the article. A Kyalami spider wouldn't be that hard to do, De Tomaso built at least 1 Longchamps spider, which was shown at one (or more) of the autoshows in the early eighties. I had a Deauville at the time and man, was I dreaming on trading it in on that open-top 2-door. At the ripe age of 23, the cash at hand was, of course, not nearly sufficient. I digress. The Longchamps was of course the father of the Maserati Kyalami, although the latter looked a lot better with the 4 round headlights instead of the Ford Granada headlights of the Longchamps...
The Indy is def one of the most understated looking cars Maserati ever made. Overall though a very pretty shape.
Here is my contribution on Indy photos. Mine is a 1971 4.7L Euro model with 5 speed and power steering. It is also for sale. Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
My Indy is not a 4700America, but it is a 4.7L. The engine indicates it as well as the dash insignia and also it has the ZF S5-325 transmission which was only used on the 4.7's and 4.9's. Image Unavailable, Please Login
i mean the design of the dash, the box in front of the passenger seat, i think it´s to large, the dash more similar with the Ghibli is nicer, but i do like the colour, Indy fits in red
Ulf, sorry I thought you were referring to the box on the floor. The dash 'pod' was utilized on early Indys with a matching 'pod' on the passenger side. This dual 'pod' design may not appeal to some, but it did bring the gauges closer together in good view of the driver.
