Chaps, given there is only about 1100 of them made is there a registry running somewhere online? I couldn't find one. I am picking up a red 4200 in a week. Where should I look up for the VIN? The manufacturer plate doesn't give the info.

    Hello and congrats.

Indys are very much under appreciated in every way and beyond being handsome and one of the classic GT V8's they allow a whole family to travel in comfort with luggage.

My first ever ride in a Maser was an Indy on the Autobahn near Bad Godesberg in Germany in 1975 with my dad and that was a life changer, I was 11:) and fell in love from the right rear seat.

The chassis number (Auto telaio) of your car IS in fact AM116-162: perhaps you are used to eent cars which have very long chassis numbers but rest assured that is it.

    All the best,

    Marc

And your engine number (which should be AM107/162) should normally be stamped on the block on top of the thermostat housing or on the back of the engine block, left side near at the clutch bellhouse.

True that there is no Indy registry, maybe because the model is not considered glamorous or rare enough...
There is however a QP registry. Probably because somebody was enthusiast enough to dedicate time and energy to do it...

    Thanks for the info!!!

I didn't expect the VIN to be this short in this case.

    Nice to see these pics.
The live rear axle of the Indy looks not to fear snow and ice!
Did you have winter tires ... and plates?

Btw, no news from that registry announced by Cmcwilliam...

Shame that it's been left falling in such a poor condition...
A money pit for whoever will take the risk of restoring it
