    Graeme,

It looks to be a complete car. So I wonder what the reason is for its lacking a title? Also, it's not clear to me where the car is located now. Something doesn't feel right about this. Has anyone actually contacted the seller?

    Hi Carmine
I have asked the seller Via Ebay what the chassis number is. The Car from the site I found it on is in Japan which does surprise me.
I have asked the the chassis number as we can trace it initial sales country via Marc.

Not that long ago I spotted Muria for sale for 25,000UK Pound and it turned out to be a fake for obvious reason's.

Surely for a car that is fully intact, one could obtain a title. There can be many reasons for a missing title.

No missing parts doesn't mean a lot: engine could be seized, hydraulics totally in shambles etc.

If it is really a rust-free and complete car, it would be worth the price in parts, but then, who would dismantle such a car?

Be careful though: A while back I found MY OWN 308 advertised in Autotrader in South Africa, with photo's and description lifted from the www, for a rediculous price. The scammer was in Australia, go figure. There's a lot if this going on.

    Dear all,
this item has been discussed frequently here and I think you, Marc, have said there was probably no rule on which cars had the nose vents and which did not. Apparently later cars have all the nose vents but some (not all) earlier do not.
Now. I have come across a car which has nose vents today but there are old pictures of the same car which show it without. Apart from the possibility that there is an error with the VIN on the old pictures, what could be the reason to change the nose? Accident repair maybe. Apart from that could it be that cooling issues lead to some "upgrades" to nose vents? Was there ever any factory advice on the vents? Did the factory itself cut vents in non vent cars?
    Best regards, Otto

    Otto,
the Khamsin always had cooling problems. This is the reason why the Factory made the modification with most of the cars.
Please note, that the K also have open wheelarches to the engine compartment. All this was neccessary to get the engine heat out of the car.

My ex-Khamsin was a very early car - but with the vents while I found later cars still without those details.

Its the typical Maserati-musical-chair-game when it comes to VIN`s.

You're right, Walter. It never occurred to me why the suspension clearance holes are so large. You could almost pass a football through there. I had always thought that my car must be missing some rubber covers.

There must be a few factors contributing to this. I would guess that the spare tire storage is a major one because it limits air flow from under the car through the engine compartment.

Question for all: has anyone made any modifications to help relieve under bonnet heat? Hopefully something very subtle and not "heretic".

This ebay auction has all the classic indications of a scam. The "shipping included worldwide" is a strong clue this auction is not for real as a real seller would not make such a generous offer on a $25K car.

    Hi Ivan

I hope your right, I have had an email from the seller saying he will check the Chassis number but nothing as yet. This should at least give us a bit more of a clue.

One thing that is odd is that the car is meant to be in Osaka and England and Osaka is spelt incorrectly as Oosaka.

I have sent a question to Classic Cars For Sale to have the legitamacy checked.

    Cheers
    Graeme

    Carmine,
easiest would be to remove the spare wheel. That should improve air flow already a littlebit.
Then what has been done on my car goes one step further. In the spare wheel compartment there is an additional radiator linked to the cooling circuit. This radiator comes from a motorcycle and was mounted in such a way that it could be removed without big issues. I do not know about water temperature in other cars (until next weekend) but with this set-up I have done alpine climbs in summer without major problems aswell as stop and go traffic.
    Best regards, Timo

I'd have to agree with Ivan, my gut tells me this is another one of those scams. much like a recent Merak for £5K that turned out to be a hijacked ebay account. I guess that the person may never come back with the chassis number, but let's see what you get back Graeme.

    Hello all!

Just sent the final newsletter to all participants, everything is as it should for a memorable occasion with an excellent group of true enthusiasts!

I re-re-re examined the Tour de Bourgogne route yesterday (200kms, we actually drove 600 in all to check everything) with a friend who will be helping with logistics during the event and I am very happy with the notes!

We saw a Lamborghini Aventador at the host hotel of K40 and a group of Swiss Ferraris at one of the wineries we will be visiting so it seems my choices are vindicated by others:)

Doug my co organizer and I look forward to greeting package 1 and 3 participants on Thursday and package 2 and 4 on the Friday!

Not much time for forum posting this week but will make sure K40 photos are up asap!

    best regards,

    Marc

That scam car is as louche as a Ukrainian blonde's dating ad seeking a destitute old man with a leg missing...

seems photos were taken in Japan...does anyone have the actual chassis number?

"170381" makes no sense and 381 is with a regular poster here in the UK...

I did as Mark suggested and this person has tried to sell, Porsche turbo, Mercedes 600 etc
even more convincing is the following:

    "Seller information
    Member id misumijp12 ( Feedback Score Of 1 ) "
    also
I recieved this response from the seller about the chassis number and only these words
    "NON NUMBER"

I have aslo asked Classic Cars Sales to investigate their on line listing.

    Cheers

    Hi Khamsinisti,

After months of work I had the first real trip in Khamsin #008 tonight since last fall. The car has seen little use the last ten years, and the leaking hydraulics and faulty electrics are evidences for why standstill is not good for these cars. I bought the car last fall and has covered a total of 750 kms. in the car, the last 50 tonight. On Wednesday morning Mrs. Sorteberg and I are heading for Dijon, France, a 1900 kms. trip one way from Oslo.

Hopefully it's reliable now with fresh fluids, rebuilt Bosch hydraulics, some new gaskets and water pipes, and new belts all over. The small things you can't remember afterwards are always the things that takes the longest to fix, but I had to focus on getting the car ready to handle the trip, not win the concourse (it's without chances anyway). I really look forward to meet all of you that are attending K40.

Good luck on the trip! See you on Friday!

    Best regards
    Marius Sorteberg

    Hi All

Best wishes for every one setting out on the jurney to Khamsin Quaranta.

I would live to have been there for the event and to drive my car in countries where the learners are restricted to Australia's maximum speed limit! and a Khamsin can at least travel on the cam!

For those who are making the jurney, at least LHM is more readily available!

    Regards
    Graeme
