What is the trick to install the polyflex hose on the steering hardener pump? I would like to hear from people that have actually done it. Ivan Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
Hello Ivan, you mean the leakage return hose ?, It is connected to the hose nozzle of the steering hardener with rubber hose, see picture, but 90 degree angle. I can not see the hose nozzle on your photo ? missing ?, part Nr. 6 on explosion drawing. Citroen experts told me to add glue, to avoid the hose slides out, but this is dangerous because the hydraulic leakage hose must be free: If not, the rubber membrane in the steering hardener will burst. Mine burst 2 times because the hose was clogged by too much glue. New membranes are available from Citroen SM Club: [email protected], price: 15 Euros Did you check the small bearing of the centrifugal governor inside the steering hardener ? Mine was blocked, and as consequence the steel balls in the centrifugal weight were destroyed. Best is check steel balls, make new bearing and new shaft seal, to avoid loosing the oil. ( attention: the shim under the little bearing has two different sides ) Regards Achim Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
OK---A set of questions: What is the correct protocol for these. ---Did all K's have them ---All years??? ---Euro vs US? Both fenders? Anything I am missing? Thanks.
Achim, I am sorry, I meant to write the polyflex BELT (not hose). It is the the belt that goes between the pump and the drive shaft. I cannot figure how to install the belt on the pump itself. Ivan

Ivan Sorry, I cannot make picture, because I actually do not have the Citroen Steering in my car. I remember the position of the steering hardener is: ventilation cap upside, leakage hose downside. steering hardener an pulley part fit together only in one position. I spend a lot of time and money to bring my Citroen steering sys https://www.leo-peschl.de/portfolio/hinterachsen-maserati-khamsin/ Ivan, may be these pictures are useful
I spend a lot of time with my Citroen steering system, but when driving fast on German Autobahn the feeling is not good. So I changed to a power steering rack from an Audi A6 C4, in my opinon... much better.
Achim, Photos were very useful. now I know how the belts is suppose to fit. Thank you! Just realized that the half shaft will have to be disconnected in order to install the belt. Hopefully I only have to disconnect one side. Is it better to disconnect the inner of outer? Changing this belt is a PITA. Ivan
inner side is better, take out the 4 screws. The half shaft is still fix because there are 2 bolts. Take a very flat screwdriver and hit it with a hammer between the cover of the half shaft and the flange of the differential. dont destroy the cover. Only a little bit, than turn half shaft 180 degrees and do the same there, then again 180 degrees other side. ...slowly half shaft moves from differential flange.
Re tech matters that is not my specialty or focus (history), others know far more on under the hood/bonnet solutions. Cozza said every K got those badges but that they either fell of (glued) or were forgotten after repaints. They exist in metal and plastic. At the Geneva show in 2006 on the Bertone stand when I mentioned they were missing on my car the stand manager...gave me two!
Great. Thanks. Always wondered about that! My K came with 2 new metal sets in the glove compartment! Now---they can go on
No, I don’t know. Interesting observation about the right intake cam cover (from a wet sump engine) but I don’t know if that’s a serious issue. The only thing I know is that this car was spotted in France several times, about ten years ago, with (another) UK registration.
Found this nice photo of the top 3 in the exotics class at Cobble Beach 2017, with Khamsin #1236: https://www.flickr.com/photos/117473633@N05/38193187986/ I know we already discussed this in 2018, but for the record the top 3 was: 1. 1977 Maserati Khamsin - William Halkiw, Toronto, ON 2. 1972 Lamborghini Miura SV - Miles Nadal, Toronto, ON 3. 1971 Ferrari 365 GTB/4 Daytona - Remo Ferri - Ferrari of Ontario, Woodbridge, ON See: https://www.cobblebeachconcours.com/winners-2017
The "B" Bertone badge is used on Alfa Montreals and the "bertone" badge on GTV 1750/2000s. For these Alfas there were small plastic/rubber grommets used to hold them in body-drilled holes. Alternatively spring disc retainers can hold the pegs from the sheetmetal backside if accessible.
Hi--- Anybody share my dislike/discomfort with the K's shift knob? Thinking of something like this: https://www.crowderscustomizing.com/Nardi-Shift-Knob--Prestige--Black-Leather-with-Black-Stitching--Part-3222010000_p_1258.html Thoughts; better suggestions? Thanks.
Ivan, the oil quantity and type is in the owners manual. I have changed the belt on this pump but had the entire rear subframe out of the car at the time, I separated the axle at the differential and had the pump sent off to Dave Burnham who tested its operation. I have some before and after pictures if you are interested. Regards Paul
Hello barnfieldman.. I am certainly interested in your before and after pictures.. Please post when possible.. Could help all us K owners... Thanks!!! Mike
