As I expected 1048 was not red originally but Argento, silver, Fabio just confirmed that. It was delivered to Los Angles before being sold to the Johnson Fine Car Store in Denver, Co and its first owner.

Impossible to say without actually inspecting t the car. Anywhere between $10K and $100K.

Fair enough, if memory serves these engines and hydraulic systems don't like to sit so working on an assumption it has been improperly stored for a long time one would need to plan on the deep side of $50k as a starting point?

Appreciate the response Ivan, and great thread all.

Anyone know where Maserati sourced the mechanic parts of the windshield wipers?

On a Ghibli it is a Lucas motor. I once used the guts of a Jag wiper motor to fix the motor on a Ghibli. Not sure on a Khamsin but I would assume Lucas.

Converting to a 5spd must be one hell of a project. Has it even been done? Converting to a much better automatic probably a lot easier.

So for the originality purists out there would making it an authentic mechanically 5spd increase or decrease the value?
I'm going to assume the European bumper conversion is always an increase.

There are about 8 cars more or less that have been transformed such as AM120-156. It is a big job but a pro outfit can tackle it.

I had the same thought about converting to a manual gearbox, but then it struck me that it would be, relatively speaking of course, probably easier to simply make a adapter to mount a modern lighter four or five speed automatic transmission deal with the prop shaft.

Said as the total Maserati newbie...

    Ivan,
Thanks what I’m looking for is Table 31 item 51. The shaft that the wiper mounts to.

I do not recognize that mechanism from other Maseratis and it is definitely not like the Ghibli and other earlier Maseratis.
Take a look at the Alfa Montreal wiper system as it looks similar

Looks at other Bertone cars built in the 1970's and I bet you will find a match.

Yes; let's remember that Khamsins were finished at Maserati but before that much of the initial build took place at Bertone or rather at their sub contractors Silver Star and Gold Star in the suburbs of Turin.

So just like the gold color used for the world premiere Khamsin prototype AM120-004 was an Alfa Romeo Montreal Bertone color and not a Maserati color, many small parts were not Maserati sourced but provided by Bertone.

For the most part GT era Maseratis were parts bin cars, with Maserati basically only making the engine. There are some parts sharing from Montreals specifically the door handles from Series 1 Montreals. All The wipers on Montreals I’ve seen are dual right to left sweep, Khamsin #1226 is a center sweep. Now it may not make a difference related to the shaft part I need, I did notice that Alfa Berlina is a center sweep.

Today I took #1284 to a car show located 40 miles from my home in what was a very humid day with occasional rain showers. The Khamsin ran well, the AC worked and the wiper delay feature came in handy. As usual, most people had never seen a Khamsin and were impressed with the design, especially the floating tail lights. The car brought home some new hardware :)

Did anyone ever come up with a paint code for the Campagnolo starburst wheels?

    Good Morning Joe...

According to the Khamsin Technical Information Binder I purchased from MIE years ago, the following is indicated for wheel paint:

Silver Paint Code # for wheels

    Sikkens Autocryl #CF9070 Gris Metalic

I think I may have posted this on this thread once before. But anyway, hope this helps...

    Mike
