Only the Bora. He also put in the horizontal dash vent from a 928 on the passenger side. He thought it helped but it does muck up the design aesthetics.

Hi There, Yes 311 started life in Verde Sucro (Dark Green. I think it was colour changed early on to Celeste, after some damage to the front wing. This was under the blue paint. Then at some point it went to black.

As you can see from the photo, the repair was really poor. From the crease line down is from another car, as it had red original paint... so I don't know whether that was from 301. Does anyone know what year McGraths parted that car out? Cheers Mark Image Unavailable, Please Login

    Hi Roger,

You are are right it is #331. It was bought long ago by Finn Kari Mäkelä, just for its looks, as he explained in an 11 August 2011 email:

"I have had the car since 1989, but never driven only stayed on my private collection.
It's a right hand drive having only UK reg documents, I haven't registered it here in Finland.
I bought the car from Italian Car Centre UK at November 1989.
Why I bought the car, was the design and rarity. I'm daily working on Ferraris but always loved Maseratis.
I don't know any other Khamsins in Finland, but you never know."

He really loves it, a few years ago I had a British client who could not find any RHD K so asked Kari if he would sell but no:)

    Hello fellow K owners....

I hope this wasn't asked before. If so, I apologize in advance...

How much leather (hides, yards/meters, etc...) is required to redo the leather seats in a 1975 Khamsin?
I realize different styles of seats were used, but I suspect the number to be pretty close amongst the
different styles... I looked through all the info I have and could not find a number anywhere!

Again, my apologies if this was already asked and answered...

It seems, from the picture, that there is a Bora in his possession also. From what I can see, it would appear to be a later year. Can you speak to that?

Not sure but do you have the factory info on the exact leather type and color for your chassis number?

Mike, i could be wrong, but I seem to recall that MIE (mandarano era) published the amount of leather needed for each of-the GT cars. Which issue? I have no idea.

    Thank you Marc and Joe...

The leather in my car is black and virtually all is original, save a few pieces sewn into the driver seat.
I have no reason to doubt that the leather is Connolly. Of course, that is to the best of my knowledge,
but perhaps there is something I don't know in terms of other leather possibly used...???

Good tip on going back and checking the old VCM magazines. I once created an excel spreadsheet listing
the titles of all tech tips and affected models, for ease when researching issues. I think I even included some
of the tech tips from TMC and MOC.. So I will check this and see what pops up.

If I find the info, I will post it here for other K owners!

Hi Mike bear in mind there are numerous types of leather grain used in various Khamsins, not just the one Connolly type but several. Had very interesting chats about Khamsin 1168 with both Fabio Collina and Andy Heywood of McGraths, turned out it had a coarser grain. So if you don't have your leather code for your K ask Fabio.

Thank you for posting them Joe,

The paint scheme looks identical to 1222 but the latter has a red interior.

Also as this 1990 Coys Nuburgring auction catalog shows (poor scan not by me), 1222 arrived in Europe in the late 80's with front AND rear US bumpers so it is definitely not the car in your photos since it has a Euro rear bumper.

Then 1222 got converted to front and rear Euro bumpers in Germany as you can see in the second photo.
After that it had two Swedish owners; Bjoern B. and Henrik S, up until today, last photo.

So the question is which car is in your photos?

Any ideas, you or Roger or Ivan or Walter, anyone?

The fact that it was displayed with no number plates probably means it was shown by a dealer and one assumes it was bought and soon repainted into a more common single color livery...but those are just guesses.

To be clear these are the only two K's anywhere known to have had two color liveries.

The photo was taken in the late 80s early 90s at the AACA Fall Hershey in the Car Corral. Notice next to it is the tube frame structure of a Countach. Both were offer for sale along with a few other cars by Oliver Kutner.

    Hello All...

Pursuant to my post on the amount of leather needed to reupholster a Khamsin interior, Italiancars was correct in that
MIE published this info in one of their Viale Ciro Menotti (VCM) magazines. THANK YOU JOE !!

This is VCM issue is No. 50, printed July 20, 1987. We thank MIE for this info, as it will be beneficial to all K owners,
sooner or later! Here is what is indicated:

    Tech Tip No. 107

Khamsin Upholstery Time & Materials: (note: no Time information was actually provided)...

    Leather total 185 sq. ft.

    Leather Breakdown

    Bucket seats 80 sq. ft.
    Rear seats 25 sq. ft.
Rear & side panels 28 sq. ft.
Door panels (leather) 18 sq. ft.
    Suede Cloth 2 2/3 yds.
    Dash leather 14 sq. ft.
    Suede cloth 2 yds.
    Console 12 sq. ft.
    Sunvisors 8 sq. ft.
    Leather binding 150 sq. ft.

Headliner Trim - suede cloth 2 1/2 yds.
    Headliner Material 1 1/3 yds.

    Carpet 10 yds.
    Carpet binding 150 ft.

    Underhood pad 1 yd.

    Comments:
    1. I believe the Leather binding of 150 sq. ft. is a mistake and probably should be 150 ft.
    2. Not sure what the difference is between Headliner Trim and Headliner Material. Will need to have
a more thorough look at the headliner area in my car.

Any comments a re welcome on this post. It would be really good if someone who has gone through the
process of re-leathering their K interior would corroborate the above numbers or provide the numbers they
    used.

Again my/our thanks to MIE for providing this info way back in 1987 !!! This is the type of info that is invaluable
to Khamsin owners as time passes!

    Hello again All...

I think it beneficial to note, although slightly off topic, MIE's VCM Issue 50 printed July 20, 1987
also contains the following regarding re-upholstery information:

    Tech Tip Title

102 3500 GT Coupe Interior Releather & Carpet
    103 3500 Spyder Interior
    104 Mistral Coupe Carpeting
105 Ghibli Coupe Interior Releather & Carpet
106 Ghibli Spyder Releather & Carpet
107 Khamsin Upholstery Time & Materials

Perhaps this will be of use to others. If so, I would encourage you to obtain a copy of VCM 50 for the
    details.

My apologies for being a bit off topic!

    And one additional post....

On the back of VCM Issue 50, printed July 20, 1987 is a photo of the MIE workshop, most likely taken back in 1987 or so.
In the photo is a silver Khamsin. I am curious if anyone may have info on what car this is. At first glance, I thought it was
perhaps my car, but now I am not so sure.. The color, US bumpers, and the oval sticker on the windshield are the same as my car,
but my car has dual exterior mirrors, whereas this one does not...

I would post a picture of the rear cover, but am concerned regarding copyright infringements on photographs. I also hope
I didn't infringe on any copyrights when I posted the Khamsin upholstery details above.. If so, my apologies...

Mike thanks for your various posts.

Very useful but you should still, if you don't have that data, ask Fabio Collina what the code of your car's leather was, he has that info.

Regarding the silver black car on the back of vcm 50 that is a very common color spec.

    Hi Marc...

Yes, I will eventually get the code for my leather... Good advice !!! My car, US1120, was once owned by Frank Mandarano.
This is why I questioned, given the silver K in the picture, could be mine, but then again, maybe not.. Perhaps he will chime
in here and let us know what he recalls about the picture. But that is a very long time ago....

    Hi Marc...

Pursuant to our thread conversation I looked up the leather on my cars build sheet. It indicates it is Nero VM 8500.
Not sure if this is Vaumol type leather or regular Connolly leather. Actually I don't even know what Vaumol stands for! On the leather samples
    I have, I did find a VM 8500 Crushed..
