Well he could transport it by flatbed, truck or train.... I am sure that you know all the Khamsins in your country that I know (perhaps excepting the one with the...Chevy V8: AM120307), you provided me with most of them anyway. Let me know if you want my list. best regards, Marc
Dear all: There will be a friendly, low key, no cost involved Khamsin gathering in or near Zurich Switzerland the afternoon of Sunday August 22nd from two to six in the afternoon. It looks like 5 cars are coming already and I just sent the invitation an hour ago to a total of 20 in Switzerland, Austria and southern Germany. If you are interested and have not received the mailer send me a private message or email me: [email protected] and I will send it to you tout de suite, sofort, immediatamente! Ich kann ein bisschen Deutsch sprechen. Final arrangements as to location and details will be decided soon by a Zurich Khamsin owner. I will be in Switzerland just for 48 hours but look forward to meeting any Khamsinistas there! best regards, Marc Maserati Khamsin registry

Hi everyone, I just saw this apparently very nice Khamsin on Autoscout: http://www.autoscout24.ch/AS24Web/Detail.aspx?from=list&wl=1&lng=fra&id=6767551&qs=from%3dDefault%26zipcountry%3dCH%26make%3d45%26yearto%3d1975%26cur%3dCHF%26sort%3dtopl%26total%3d13%26eftotal%3d13&page=1&row=5
By the looks of the pictures its had some serious work done. the detail in the engine bay is superb, trim and paint look vey classy. Price is also classy at 119.8 CHF. Graeme
Hello all: AMLC: hmm hard to tell from this photo but it could be what I call the KGb car, one of the 7 that was in the Goodwood line up in October, the registration of which is KGB and a few numbers. By the way they appear to deal with Jeremy Clarkson as one of the photos shows. He did a show with a Khamsin (359 of George Perfect) a very long time ago and it would be wonderful to track a copy down. Ity is not referenced in their oline material at all and I once tried emailing them to no avail. EM42...wow yet another silver car in Switzerland...don't have time to contact them today (I still don't have internet service due to that storm so little time online) but willin a few days. They list as chasssi number the wrong numbers, happens all the time. It looks like a new one to me unless it is a US car that has had the bumpers AND sidelights done in that case it could be 1052; in any case the text, even though I don't understand all of it, is amusing, very unusual for a sales ad! Thanks for both mentions!
Update: Thanks to a very positive response it looks like we are at 10 cars certain or very probably coming with more to decide! Exact location will be determined within a few days. Don't hesitate to contact me for any information. Again there is no cost involved, jsut a friendly get together. See full information 5 posts up from this one. best regards, Marc
Hello All: We now have seven Khamsins confirmed and another 6 or 7 possible! The site has been chosen: it is a restaurant in the beautiful hills south of Zurich not so far above the lake. I will not post the detailed information here but if you want to join us send me a pm. Lunch is optional each pays for his own if you prefer to join us afterwards no problem. The idea is to have everybody there 2pm onwards. The restaurant owner has a Maserati himself so we will be well received! We have a row of 8 parking spaces reserved but there is room for more. Please let me know by Tuesday, Wednesday at the latest whether you are coming and for lunch or not if lunch how many people. Lunch is at 1pm or join us after lunch. All already comitted are German speakers but almost all also speak good English. Hoping to see you there! best regards, Marc
All... Finally got around to removing the slave clutch and disassemblying it... It was somewhat difficult to remove and the most difficult part of the disassembly was removing the C-clips.... Interestingly, it appears the last time it was rebuilt only 3 of the o-rings were replaced, namely the 2 larger ones and one of the smaller ones... I would have thought that both smaller ones would have been done... The one that wasn't was somewhat hard and still had green paint on it... Perhaps this could still be from the factory?? At any rate, I will replace all 4 of the o-rings and re-install... Hopefully, the leaks will disappear!!! If anyone has any tips on re-assembly and/or re-installation please let me know... I have attached a photo of the pieces and parts, including the removed o-rings for your viewing pleasure... Mike Image Unavailable, Please Login
Looks like a fun little bugger! I wonder if one of these could be adapted to work on a Bora. That way the brake fluid pollution of an otherwise perfect system could be eliminated ... ;>)
hELLO em42: With some help from Zurich based Khamsinistas we determined that it is AM120US1052 which I had seen at Garage Limacher in September 2007 near Luzern looking a bit sorry. Limacher subsequently did a lot of work removing the US sidelights, paint, leather mechanical (US bumpers had already been deleted before). best regards, Marc
hi My middle daughter is coming to Melbourne at the end of september after finishing a course in Shanghai as organised by her Uni. She met a lot of Australians last year whilst doing summer work in Portugal and has unilaterally decided to come to Melbourne to seek work as a part 1 Architecht student! ( She hasn't organised a job yet!!!!!) i was told by a New Zealander Paul Clements now living in glasgow that there were quite a few italian car petrolhead down there! She came to my Italian Car and bike Day at Hopetoun House on sunday 15th ( as did Paul Clements) and saw the other Khamsin living in Scotland! Will be strange for her to be down there and possibly seeing more Khamsins! Is there quite a few older Italian exotics in Melbourne? Paul
All... Now that I have the slave clutch apart, I am hunting the O-rings needed to rebuild the thing... I measured the ones I removed and here is what I show: qty OD ID Thickness 2 15mm 11mm 2mm 1 24mm 19mm 2.5mm 1 30mm 25mm 2.5mm Can anyone confirm this ?? or successfully used different sizes?? Last time this was done, I used the O-ring kit from MIE, but thought it was priced a little high for what you get.. Thought I would see if I could get them elsewhere... The o-ring material shouldn't be necessarily critical, since we are dealing with LHM (mineral oil), so viton or nitrile should be sufficient... ALSO... Any suggesstions, experiences, or tips on bleeding once assembly and installation are complete?? Thanks... Mike
In the back of my mind I thought some Bora's were fitted with "slave/Actuators" There is also another way of getting an assisted clutch. Some cars have a small vac assited clutch booster. Not sure how it could be adapted in a Bora with its pedal assembly. Graeme
Hi Paul Melbourne has a huge range of exotics, Maseratis included. In fact a lot of car clubs have their head quarters in Melbourne. Graeme
Hello all: Leaving to Zurich in a few hours, Khamsin meeting tomorrow: 8 cars have committed to come with up to three more possible and weather is expected to be superb: can't wait! Will post photos when I return mid week. best regards, Marc
I took the Khamsin out for a small ride to test the A/C as I just replaced the receiver / dryer. The air worked well but I noticed when I used the turn signal for a right turn, the little green indicator lamp came on but didn't flash. Same thing happened for a left. I also tested the emergency flashers but no luck. Does anyone know where they hide the flasher relay? I see it on the schematic (#47) but have no idea where it is on the car. Thx, Rick . . . .
Hi Graeme I am sure she will be able to spot them! My eldest was in Peru and excitedly sent me a text saying she had just seen an X1/9! Perhaps i should send over the Khamsin for her to drive and she may get noticed as being someone with sufficient style to get a job in an architechts office! She decided some years ago she wanted my fiat Barchetta which is now in storage for her on her return! Sounds a great place! Am hoping to come see her at christmas if she isn't coming back to cold wet weather! Would be great seeing some of these cars in sunshine for a change! If anyone on here has contacts for a part 1 student for work, let me know!! Paul Paul
Good to see a US car with Euro Bumpers even rarer to see it with smog pump still fitted. Nice combination and dont usually like black cars. Even after 20K miles the exhaust has dents and the grease nipple on the clutch fork is missing, Silly place to put it. Graeme
Hello all: Well Sunday was errr...quite special as you can see below: all 8 Khamsins arrived on time and we enjoyed a wonderful day high up in the Swiss hills with perfect weather, very friendly owners, 8 cars in excellent condition, all of them from the Zurich area except one which came all the way from Stuttgart, Germany. Special thanks to P. for being instrumental in making this a success. As owners have requested privacy (which is very much the norm in Switzerland) I will not here discuss chassis numbers but suffice to say it was a stunning array of very high quality European spec Khamsins. It was very interesting to examine a light blue car, had not seen one in over 30 years. There were numerous details of interest such as a Burgundy car with two tone interior (only two cars had that) which had luggage straps in the trunk, something I had never seen before, not just the late curtain style version trunk cover. That owner even has the original luggage at home so that will be interesting to see. We were joined by several interesting other Maseratis Ferraris and Isos as the word had gotten around amongst friends but this was a day in the sun for the Khamsin, the others were just spectators. The hikers and strollers who happened to pass by were truly awed by the line up: nice to see. I got to drive the pino verde car all day and a photoshoot took place prior to the event for my book, involving that car and one of the silver ones: a very special thank you to the owner of the two cars who could not attend but allowed me to drive the green car, one of my favorite Khamsins in the world on a day which was pure magic: perhaps my best since starting the registry 5 years ago: it was not Shangri-La it was Khamsin-La! best regards, Marc Image Unavailable, Please Login
Great event 2% of all Khamsin Production!well done!!! Did you take photos of the luggage staps I like the idea. I sent a PM as I have located all but a few Chassic numbers (15) of the Australian cars and some owners. Regards Graeme
Thanks Graeme: it was very rewarding, as good as it gets Last year at Goodwood the 7 Khamsin line up was just a quick thing after the concours and just before people drove home but Sunday the cars were together for about 4 hours so we really got to take it all in at leisure. Will post some detail photos later on. Thanks for the Australian Khamsin info, back to you later. best regards, Marc
Marc Post lots of pics! We had about 1 hour at goodwood, it just seemed quicker! Is the book launch moved? coming out quicker? Paul
