I sold my Mexico last year and really missed it so I HAD to buy another V8 Maserati. Looked around, and found, and visited some cars but they were not as clean as i wanted. Then i found this Kyalami, with 45'000 km on the clock, in exceptionnally clean unrestored condition. The first paint had cracked due to age so that the car only needed a respray. All parts are original to the car, we even didn't need to change a screw (they were still like new) after the paintjob was completed. The car is back on the road and drives like a charm. What a great car. Drives much better than a Mexico !

Congatulationi! A very nice aquisition! Yep, the Kyalami is known to be one of the best driver of the classic Maseratis due to its very nicely balanced chassis. Enjoy the car! We see us in Interlaken in September???

    Ciao!

Ciao Walter, remember the Ischia Blue Mexico? Was due to drive up to the Nurburgring Oldtimer GP last year, but we had to cancel. Sold the car last September. I'll try to drive to Interlaken if weatherfriendly. Next week, will also drive to the Nurburgring GP but without the Kyalami. Will for sure check out the Maserati club up there!

Congrats! Beautiful car...and are those rear lights the same as those on the Fiat 130 Coupe? Love the 'edge' design of yesteryear...Seen the Kyalami and the other 'winds' back in my Uni. days in the UK but sadly, I doubt any exist in my country, Malaysia..

Looks very nice - uncannily like a 400i IMO.

with the exception of the rear side windo can't really see the 400, but can see lots of Detomaso Deauville, still a great looking example

Doors, rear window, shape of the tail, upright angle of the tailpipes, big thick leathery console... just generally. Looks sharp though.

Very very nice. Love the chrome treatment on windows. I admire any car from 70's or 80's in mint condition.

    I really like your car.

I wish they made cars like that today.

Beautiful car. I think I may have seen this Kyalami for sale here in Switzerland.
The photos are great. Did you take them yourself Maserati?

This car is just beautiful. Great colour combination. This is just one more reason to be envious of the Swiss.

Congratulations! I think it looks great in dark blue with tan interior. It's incredible that while in the '70s everyone was buying the boring Mercedes 450 SLC (with only 225HP!) no-one bothered to try the comparable but more exclusive Kyalami... only 200 built, of which about 150 with the 4.9 litre engine (the rest were 4.2). Maserati marketing must really have been pathetic in those days, they had no strategy for their products.

It should also be very quick, the 4.9 has 280+ horsepower (often closer to 300, could even get 320 for a well tuned engine - I've seen some surprising dyno curves) and it's at least 200Kg lighter than a QP III with the same engine. And that was no slouch...
