the USA is still Maserati’s largest and most important market. China on occasion may surpass the US in the number of cars sold, but senior management is very aware that it could all go away in a second with a decree by the CCP. Watch for Alfa to have a record year in China.

Whether you like Car and Driver or not, the scales don't lie. Maserati says the the car is "less than 3,307 pounds". I'll assume that's "dry" weight. Car and Driver weighed their test car and it was 3,757 pounds. I don't think all the fluids add up to 450 pounds...
I guess Maserati used the same scales that Alfa did for the 4C when it was introduced....

Still 1200 lbs more than the USA 4c. But more than double the HP.

The MC20 is no "lightweight" but its still plenty fast. Most, including Leno, say its more of a sport GT than hard core sports car. IMO, you sell more sport GT's than hard core sports cars.

Everyone can agree on one thing -- its really beautiful and unique in its visual statement. That's not easy to do today when you are looking at such high performance numbers.

I just watched this. Jay really looks old in this one and he barely drove the car after having it overnight. perhaps he was all tuckered out from driving the preceding night? ;)
The guy from Maserati sounded like he was reading from a memorized script ... maybe he's new.
I like the car's color a lot reminds me of something ... my Bora's color ... sort of.

I don't think this video sold the car well.

Yea I noticed that Jay seemed a bit “slow”, almost medicated. Peffer the latest Head of Maserati North America came from Kia at a time when due to Covid travel restrictions transferring someone from Italy to take over was not possible.

And as I’ve been saying for almost a year the MC20 is a modern Bora in philosophy.

    Ditto.

Hey probably it was just too many hookers and blow the night before in West Hollywood ... ;) I don't remember Jay saying anything funny. Never a good sign. Peffer was very stiff, perhaps just nervous. Hopefully he gets a large dose of Italian injected ... These aren't Dodges he's selling ...

Boy there must be a million guys doing this now. So here's another. I don't find anyone in this video particularly compelling as an expert and some just a bit annoyinging.
But forget all of that and try and last until he gets to drive it with a "buddy". DON'T fast forward as it spoils the effect.

So neither likes the exhaust note and the primary reviewer wonders why he's forgotten all about a car that's been out for 2 years already? I'm not sure that's quite accurate as they've just started delivering them. That compelling expert stuff again ... Oh never mind that ... listen to them put the car down as just another boring GT from Maserati. Kind of reminds me of the treatment the Bora got in its day.

THEN ... he puts it in corsa mode and OMFG he just about pees his pants scaring himself barely missing wildlife several times and a bicycler. Bloody crazy englishman! ;)

Why the heck are you constantly putting the Alfa 4C into discussion...???? You can NOT compare this car with the MC20 which is on a much higher level - moneywise but also in technology.

Because the 4c and the Mc20 ARE related, even if you refuse to admit it.

Why do you always bash the 4c? Its a darn good car for its price.

    Why is the 4C related?

    - it has a 4 cy.-engine while the MC20 has a 6-cyl.
    - its smaller than the MC20
    - performance of MC20 is much stronger
    - price tag of the 4C was much lower than with the MC20

...so why it is related? Only because of the mid-engine- and monocoque specs (other, much stronger cars have the same design features) ? Only because Maserati build the 4C??? Really, thats all...?

Yes, the 4C is a very good car for that price. But THAT price clearly makes the difference to the MC20.

An announcement more suited for the Babylon Bee. That truly is grotesque not to mention idiotic if it is truly is to serve as the new SM. Where's the passenger and luggage space going to come from?
This has got to be some sort of perverse joke ...

April fools jokes require perfect timing. I didn't make the rules. But I wasn't thinking of that anyway because well ... it's April 15 ... A date more in tune with something which is definitely no joke here, one's income tax return! Fortunately I haven't had my breakfast yet.

I very unexpectedly spent some time with an MC20 yesterday (blue, steel brakes). The interior seems almost anti-Maserati in that it is not an overly luxurious experience. It feels very spartan. Additionally, I am clearly used to another generation of mid engine cars as the MC20 is huge by comparison. Looks outstanding in the flesh, but my most practical comment is how easy this car is to get in and out of. I am a runner and keep fit, but I still hated getting in and out of my 355 or even a 430. The door of the MC20 wasn't just for show, it has a purpose in making the sill just right. This one was sold for a very nominal amount above the $286k sticker btw. Will be interesting to see how the market treats these after 5-10 years.

I think the last Maserati to get this kind of action was the MC12 and that was at a much higher level. They also had to be federalized first. I remember Classic Coach having MC12 parts hanging all of the the place as they worked to federalize them.

Just saw one at the dealer today and was very impressed with how beautiful the car looked. The rear end very much reminded me of a Noble M600(which I love)

Atleast from a visual perspective, IMO they hit it out of the park, just stunning and interesting to look from all angles, while not getting too over the top like a lambo or Mclaren

Never driven one, so no idea on the driving dynamics but atleast from a visual stand point, they nailed it.

Looks like May 25th is the rumored reveal date for the spider. Got this from Maser by email this morning. Mc20 Cielo? (aka...sky?)

I hope they integrate the Maserati logo into the rear hatch like the coupe. Clever touch and less generic.
