Lighten up Walter. This is SOCIAL media and not a textbook about the MC20. Topics get a bit mixed up from time to time. That's just how conversations go ... Perfect purity of content is a hopeless goal and no real harm was done.
Be careful or we'll mistake you for Marc in the Khamsin thread ... ;) :p

I was at my Vegas dealer today. Having them do some work on my 328 in the service dept. They had just got in this special edition MC20 that I hadn't seen before. New. Something like on 20 made for the US market. Going for MSRP at about $285K which seemed like a bit of a deal. Interesting color. This car is really pretty in person.

I have to go back today. Let me see if I can shoot one. I thought it was interesting they were making special editions and you can get one without ordering.

I don't understand the attraction of a matte finish. One of the joys of a beautiful sports car is the look after it has just been waxed and polished. Do you even do that with this finish? Recently saw a Lamborghini Huracan in matte green and it looked like the finish on a army truck.

I guess beauty is in the eye of the beholder.

  9. My friend, do not buy any MC-20 at MSRP.

Better to just use dollar bills to blow one's nose.

For the finishes done in the actual paint what's it look like after you've detailed the finish and needed to remove imperfections with some compound? I wonder ...

Yesterday morning my neighbor had a grey matt finished Tesla S parked out front. Someone had hit the LR door and damage it badly, large dent. I'm not familiar with How Tesla does their matte finishes but in addition to the large dent a large piece of film was peeling off of the door.

I just never see it in almost any of the photos or videos of the MC20. Of course the car is invisible on the roads around here. Not a fan of the interior in the car the The Mayor posted but that's just me.
The shape of the car is growing on me, especially when compared to some of the modern, ugly extremes I see from Lamborghini, McLaren and others. The absolute worst to me is the Pagani yet it was mobbed at the Greenwich concours ... I still pine for the Alfieri ... Ferrari took and screwed up that design.

Yes, the Alfieri was a fantastic design and Maserati clearly missed the beat here...! But I think with the MC20 they are on a very good way now....
Agreed about the Pagani which has an interior that looks more like a bordello - overstyled into the last corner!

Meanwhile a 1900 mile 22 car only bid to 200k. Its sorta exoitc but dosent come across as serious in the way a ferrari or Mclsaren does. Its like it doesn't know if its a halo hard core car or just another Gt car. Italian corvette then, with a big maserati question mark on any sort of long term reliability or reasonable running costs. Kinda like the Ghibli from the late 60s then.

Have you had a chance to drive one? I haven't and probably never will because #1 there's no way I'm spending this kind of money at this point in my life and given the terrible conditions in this country. Those of you who have that kind of economic insulation from what's going down right now great go for it. That's not a knock of this Maserati or any other cars like this.

Maserati has made it clear that this is a GT mid engine exotic so how is that not serious? There's at least one new owner on this thread who's taken it to the track and is quite impressed with it's chops. If I bought one I doubt I'd take it to the track anyway. I know what that does to a car.

They or Maserati should have had it at Greenwich and promoted the hell out of it, instead they had a standard Levante sitting next to a Stelvio Quadrifoglio and some sort of Ghibli III.

    WTF?

Chrysler management in the USA strikes again ...

    Care to elaborate?

  22. Walk up to any Maserati dealer and they will be willing to take 10, if not 15, percent off of MRSP on any new untitled MC-20.

Does that happen with a new Mclaren GT? Or any Mclaren? New, those are still going for MSRP.

At least with Mclarens, the depreciation kick in the ass only begins after you buy the car, with Maserati it appears even before you take title. Dealers are so desperate they are listing them on BAT and C&B just to unload excess inventory, and even then the reserves are not met.

The issue seems to be area specific. Ellis Maserati here in Atlanta moves their coupes very well, and I'm told at MSRP or very near.

My question is if I buy a MC20 off BaT for a 15-20% off MSRP, will my local dealer balk at servicing it? From a warranty perspective they have to, but I don't believe they are going to be as flexible with ambiguous warranty issues and extended warranty stuff considering I didn't buy it there.

i guess its my prejudice. I think any exotic performance car should really work on track, I mean otherwise its just a fun pose machine. Maserati as a brand(in the modern era) simply does not have the pose value, an sadly in pose worlk MC20 comes off as couldn't afford a Ferrari.. Maybe they need to make the Gt3 version of the mc20, that halo version could give the rest street cred.
Ferrari can do that pose because it can rest on its former and current racing sucess, selling ersatz race cars for the road. Alfa only sells what cars it does because of how good thy are, the back catalogue means little currently, same with Aston.

Porche has the racing success on many levels formerly and currently, plus its cars are provably the real thing. While the 911 may be a brand in and of itself. Caymans only started selling with he advent of the Gt4 because it was a great car on and off track. Today many cars earn their chops at track days, and this halo carries over to sales.

the Mc20 looks great. Spec sounds good its got a Cf tub, but its heavier than even a metal hybrid 296. Id also say given masers more recent past relibility that TTv6 is a big question mark.Yeah like some oter Gt cars you can track it, but there are lots of cars you can track sorta ok but not standout, and I think one gets the feeling rightly or wrongly that if you track this car the bills are going to add up really fast.
    .
To me its the Italian corvette, a big heavy Ish really quick Gt masquerading as something more, but with questionable long term running costs/durability. I guess they're asking too much for what it is. Not as viceral or exotic as the similar priced lambo, nor as track serious as a gt3, kinda in between. Maybe better to call it the Italian 911 Turbo, also not a great seller cause where does it really fit.

Imo if some version weighted below 3400lbs and was a little more focused we'd have the modern day 288GtO, ie less an old mans car and more something really aspirational, to me that would be uber compelling and a usp. As it is the car looks gorgeous, thats its usp, but otherwise falls between two stools. Anyway if prices keep falling and it proves to be reliable/durable, Im in, cause tis really cool as a road car, and Italian vette..

I drove the MC20 on the race circuit in Varano, Italy, in Summer 2021. It was great and the car handles very well on circuits.
