I am about to begin work on a Maserati Mexico that has been apart for sometime. I was wondering if there are any Mexico owners out there? The car is in a million pieces!!

Hi Bertocchi, i'm the proud owner of one of these BEAUTIFUL cars.

Mine is a 1970 (2nd) series model, Blu Ischia, with 16'000 original kilometers on the clock. This is pure driving pleasure.

It's quite a complex car to restore but believe me, it's worth the work.

You are in luck, in the latest edition of Maserati Club International's magazine VCM the Mexico is the featured model.

Blu Ischia is a medium metallic blue actually. It has lot of silver/grey and a hint of yelllow in it which make it look softer than most metallic blues.

I would suggest you look at the colors available on Mexico before respraying the car. Color MAKES a difference. Mine was Marrone Colorado and the car was really looking sad. Midtone metallic hues are perfect on Mexicos as they will perfectly show the car's sleek lines and supreme elegance.

Another color of my consideration was Verde Bosco which is a fantastic deep green.

If i remember correctly, there were many blues available for the Mexico:
    Celeste Chiaro Met.
    Blu Sera Met.
    Blu Tigullio Met.
    Beu Ischia Met.
    Blu Scuro
    Blu Medio
    Blu Pervinca Met.

Well i hope you'll be able to finish your project soon and drive that beast.
The Mexico has the best driving i've ever seen. The car just behaves as it looks. Sleek gear changes, wonderful deep sounding engine... take it on the highway and see what Gran Turismo means. This car is WAY undervalued...

Thanks for the additional pictures. Our car is more of a dark blue perhaps the Blu sera? I restored a 1959 250 PF Coupe that was very close in color to our car. Very sexy car in dark colors, I am not sure if I would like it in a light color

I always tend to sell my cars, to get over and try something else. This time i'm gonna keep this baby. That has always been my favorite Maserati and now i have one in top condition, i'm not willing to part with it. It rather makes me want another V8 (Why not the Kyalami ? - the 70's Mexico)

Maserati, Your car is stunning and I would not sell it at any price. When the car collecting community "wakes up" and discovers these cars and how truly enjoyable they are the cars will go into epoxy floored garages and hidden to all but a very privelaged few. Enjoy it but most of all drive it, everywhere!

Thanks for keeping the thread alive. We had a sudden rush to get some cars ready for the auctions in Monterey last month and it through my schedule off. Can't wait to get going again. The Paint shop here is finishing up a Merak and when it is done the Mexico should go in its' place.

Not exactly, i just put it up there because i pay for a certain amount of ads, and i had 2-3 free slots i had to fill with something. The car brings visitors to my website - no serious call for the moment (and i don't care!).
