Am sure there are many people that can tell me more about this model as I know very little apart from the fact 3.7 and 4.0 liter versions were availible. A friend of mine has been offered one of these cars, a 1965 3.7 liter version that still has Lucas injection, I was under the impression this system was very un reliable.

    Are these cars considered collectable?

Today the LUCAS-system can be sorted! Depends on who is doing this!!

Yep, its a collectable (any classic Maserati is worth to be collected) but don`t expect Ferrari GTO-value within the next 126,5 years!

    Ciao!

Well thats what makes me a bit sceptical as to if anyone here in South Africa has any experience sorting what seems to be a very troublesome system, what I understand is that most cars were converted to Webers.

First find someone that can set up the fuel injection correctly then weld the hood shut.

Without an experianced mechanic I would advise to convert the car to carbs!

Its a fantastic driver and in particular with the 4.0-liter engine!!!

    Ciao!

Nice article on the 4 liter Mistral Spyder in the November issue of Classic and Sports Car magazine. It looks quite different with Starburst mags. I prefer Boranni wires.

    Jacques,

There are people here who can set up the fuel injection.

    Mistral is a great car!

Two weekend ago I drove my Mistral spyder to the Hiltom Head concourse (700 miles round trip) and in the middle of summer it was driven to a show in Lexington, Kentucky (800 miles round trip). The car is running on its original fuel injection. I think replacing the injection system with Webers is a crime and Walter should be ashamed for suggesting it. Walter .. it is a joke .. calm down :)

The spyder is an absolutely stunning car. There is one much identical to the pics above here in Cape Town, and I just love it.

It is said that the spyder shares panels with the AC 428 Frua convertible, more specifically the doors. Is there any truth in that?

    Ivan,
I like the WEBERS more due to the better visual aspect. If your car runs fine with the LUCAS-system....great! No conversion needed!

    Ciao!

Anybody else but me spot the Maserati Mistral Coupe in the new James Bond Movie, "A Quantum of Solace"?

Yep, there is a thread on it already. Beautiful car and the movie wasn't bad either.
