Love the patina on the seats, and the look of the engine. Seems to me a really nice resto, striking a good balance between "as new" and "well preserved".

Congratulations on the car, and the article!

    Fantastico!!! Wonderful job.

I think it was a 100% great idea to use your original interior, and keep some of the originality intact.

Cheers to you Sir on a job very well done!!!!!!

Azul - your car is beautiful! Are you happy with the fuel injection and Harms work?
It should have very smooth power, did your restorer add electronic ignition or any sory of
    Point replacement system?

The interior looks greats - spectacular patina...a kind of well lived in and comfortable place.
One of the best elements is you know the car is basically New! Just like it was when it left the factory.

Congratulations on a speedy restoration, enjoy your Maserati.

    Hi John,

The injection is working good, very smooth, I am very happy with Harm´s work. My restorer didn´t add any electronic ignition, only an additional engine fan, because Madrid in summer is very hot. Thanks for your words!

    Cheers! Alejandro

    Hi Abavai,

Some of the pics were taken with flash and others without. I didn´t post all pics the photographer made, you must buy the magazine!!
The engine is still in burn up period, but it´s working very smooth and the sound is so beautiful. The steering isn´t power assited so it´s a little heavy, but only when the car is stopped. The gear box is smooth and precise, the cluth is soft and the disc brakes are quite efficient. Surprisingly, It´s not very far from driving a modern car.
I will try to post a video in the near future!

    Cheers! Alejandro

    Hi Abavai,

Yes, I think the article came out very nice!
I only have an old magazine (Motor Clasico) with a white Mistral (Barcelona plate). Apart from that, I know there is a silver coupe in Barcelona and a blue coupe from Castellon that was sold some years ago.

    Cheers!

We had one of those when I was growing up. Strange beast. Like an Italian Corvette. Rough and trucklike, with mechanical fuel injectors that made is sound like a diesel, but lots of torque!

Yes, I did 2000 km to It! I love it, the engine is geting smoother and everyday sounds better! However, there are 2 things not working properly, the rear brakes and the oil gauge. The rear brakes sometimes get sticked, the workshop told me that its caused by the servos, they will send them to England to get fixed. The oil gauge wont read more than 3, they told me the problem is caused by the bulb thermometer, but we were unable to find a new one.

    Cheers!

    Alejandro,

Your Mistral's oil gauge is a Smith unit. Internally I bet this gauge is calibrated very similar to a Jaguar and other British cars of that era. This means that electrically the oil sending unit (what goes on the engine) from a Jaguar should work. The problem is the Maserati uses metric threads and most (if not all) British cars of that era were not metric. I wonder if you can take a Jaguar sending unit and re-thread it or build an adapter?

Yes, brake lockup is usually caused by a faulty servo. My Mistral's front brakes locked up once and no amount of engine power would move it. I disconnecting vacuum to the faulty servo and limped back home.

The only Croatian Mistral just appeared in local ads. Didn't contact seller but according to the stories I heard it was imported from USA, crashed and badly repaired, all of that a lot of time ago. Ad just says it needs complete restoration. Asking price is a bit over $50.000, fairly optimistic IMHO.
