Well, my dad is considering getting a nice weekend car. I've taken a look at Gransports, and Carreras. Also took a look at Lotus (Loti?), mainly the Exige, which he seems to like. Now, he's never had a nice car such as these, and I've been the one looking at all the info on them. Was just wondering if anyone could give me info on what would be the better car. In terms of how much it would be to maintain it; ride; and the price. He's not looking for something with a high price or anything, but fun, comfortable, and fuel mileage is not much of an issue, because, well, it's a weekend car. Just thought I could get some decent info from the guys who actually drive the cars like these everyday.

    Appreciate it.

Exige is cheapest to maintain followed by the carrera the Gransport is a 115k car that has depreciated but the maintenance is still maserati expensive.. which is about 2/3rd of ferrari expensive.. which may piss him off once he starts paying bills..

I would say Exige or Carrera

If your looking for a fun comfortable sports car for the weekend:

Audi R8. They can be had for pretty cheap too.

Some more info on your Dad would help with giving advice.

    Age level? 50's, 60's, 70's, 80's?

    Price level of desired weekend car? $30k, $50k, $70k, $90k, $120k, $200k+ ?

Use of car? local car shows, cruising with wife or grandkids, picking up hot babes? (j/k ;) )

You forgot hooning... standard run-of-the-mill hooning should always be an option. :)

The Maserati Quatroporte or the 4.2L GranTurismo are both great cars.

Well, he's not looking to spend a ton of money, so about 50K I'd say. It's not very much, I know so it doesn't leave a terrific selection of cars to pick from. He'd just like to cruise and have some fun and possibly take it to some shows/meets/runs. The QP is another consideration. It's also a car my mom likes, but I think he wants something smaller, you know to be able to lets say "bring to the track". Not a sedan.

well the would comfortable and Lotus, are rarely used together. At 50K you can probably pick up a 05 997, I think that is by far the best car for fun and track for him.
