Good news for Maserati, and Maserati fans. Jim Glickenhaus and Maserati S.p.A. have begun to develop a prototipo Maserati/Glickenhaus for the AL and AMLS series.

They are going to be using the new TTV8 at 600+ H.P.

Having Maserati racing again in the ALMS or GT3 would obviously help with overall sales in the U.S. and elsewhere.

Jim is to be commended if all goes as planned, as developing a race car, a race team and program is a massive, massive effort.

    Go Jim, go!!!!

Very nice. For those who have not done so, check Jim's P4/5 thread in the Ferrari section. That will probably give a pretty good idea of how this will go.

We remain hopeful that this can come to pass. There are still some issues to be sorted
before this is a full go including locking sponsors.

This would be a program aimed at Maserati lovers and we would have a lot of hospitality at races. We think this could help to sell Maserati's especially in the US.

It would really be something to see Maserati Prototypes racing at Daytona and Sebring.

    Keep your fingers crossed!!

I think you mean TT V6 right? I am eagerly awaiting this engine. Sort of a modern Italian Acura NSX engine. Wonderful

Our 2014 Maserati DP GA/ALMS effort would use Maserati's 3.9L TT V8 which we would develop for racing. This engine could also be used in GT3.

Once again if it comes to pass which is not assured

We are considering a TTV6 for our next road one off P 33 which is a separate
    project.

    Jim,

    That's just great!

At least that way you won't have to buy parts for your race-car on the open market anymore, and actually enjoy back-up from the people who ought to back you. One significant less problem to deal with.

I see a lot of P4/5 comp in the rendering; a teaser?

The thought of a Scuderia Cameron Glickenhaus Maserati with a proper Tridente badge on it is very enticing, please let me know if I can do something!

    Good luck,

    Jack.

    Thanks!

At this point we make anything we need. As far as the teaser we also may have sponsors for a P 4/5 DP and whatever happens first is the road we'll go down.

It will be an SCG in my mind, whatever powers it. A Lotus is a Lotus, regardless of the Ford DFV hanging off the back.

Still, a partnership with Mazzer would be cool.

But that would another GT3 than the Gran Turismo based one developed by Swiss Racing, right? So, would it also be based on the Gran Turismo?

The Swiss Racing car had a great debut last year with a win at the International GT Sprint race at Vallelunga, and will run in that series this year as well.

I assume that the photos in post # 1 are conceptual computer graphics?

They are doing great but we'd develop a 3.9L TTV8 Maserati for both DP and GT3.

In GT3 it could go into a Grand Tursimo.

... does that mean that the TTV8 will soon find its way into the Gran Turismo range? Makes sense .... :)

As an American guy who grew up in the 60's and 70's on hot rods and muscle cars, (but we didn't call them that at the time), I've always been partial to V-8's. Partly for this reason, even back then, the Ghibli and Khamsin always appealed more to me than the other two Italian exotics' twelve cylinder offerings. I am happy about the V8 !

Still not a lock but we will soon start Engine Development.

Our goal is 600+ HP in endurance tune. (48 hours).

So give us an idea of general configuration: bore by stroke, compression ratio, cam drive, carbs or fuel injection, etc..

The engine we will develop will be the TT V8 used in the new QuattroPorte.

Great news Jim! Of course any "spy" photos of development would be welcome.

We are all pulling hard for you!!!

How can the Maserati faithful help you in your endeavor?

    Ciao and best.

Jim, that's great, you jump the gun so to speak, so I take it that you are confident the lock will be in place sooner rather than later.

    A few q's if I may?

Is the engine bespoke, or does it still find its' origins at Ferrari's V-8?
Are you using a flat-plane crank, or will you use the traditional form?
Is development taking place in Europe or in the US?

    This is very exciting!

    Best,

    Jack.

Tell your dealer that if this happens you'll buy a new Maserati.

    :)

As this will be an Official Maserati Race Team Maserati will be very involved at the races showing their latest cars and welcoming fans. We'll be very fan friendly and hope many of you will come to the races.

This has nothing to do with Ferrari. We will develop a race version of Maserati's new TTV8 Production engine which was designed by Maserati.
