According to this article Maserati orders for the new models have really taken off. Maserati orders explode, 22,500 through September - Autoblog Now comes the real test ... which is to deliver a quality product and provide the proper service network. Ivan
I know FoA have geared up for the new Maser and hired an extra guy there. I just hope this means we will see a more serious sports GT car.
It's good news. I havent tried the new 4p/Ghibli but the press seems to like them, although they did say that they lost the charisma of the previous gen which i agree. Hopefully the Media center is greatly improved as that was total garbage in the 2006 and 2008 i drove.
+1 Well going from 6,300 to 22,500 and then on up to 50K would be quite a single year sales increase for a manufacturer the size of Maserati. Yes they have other corporate resources but still ...
Our local Fcar/Maser dealership has so many cars that the Masers sit outside at night and on the weekend so the service Fcars can be stored inside. Tons of new Q-ports.
You bring up a good point. Orders does not necessarily mean end user sales. Hopefully all of these cars find homes and do not sit around unsold. Ivan
A new Maserati dealership recently opened here locally (a first for this area). One of the reasons I traded the '05 CC Coupe back in the day was due to lack of dealership network / service departments (without having to drive 2-3 hours away for service). Now I'm considering purchasing another one. Now if we could just get a Ferrari dealer to open up here...
Well once again they are manufacturing Biturbo automobiles, have an ambitious sales forecast and just like the mid 1980s dealers are now overstocked? Is Maserati pushing inventory off on dealers and then reporting THAT as sales? Please say it ain't so.
I know one of the 4 local dealers in Chicagoland/Milwaukee have a bunch on order and in stock. They are selling very well. I think it looks to much like the Infiniti M myself wich is shameful.
Perhaps but from what I gather a drive is probably a good idea. I thought the Q5 was pretty distinctively styled. The interior room wasn't quite there but I've heard that's all fixed now and it has 4WD. I see them on a daily basis where I live. Headquarters is just over the hill.
Don't get me wrong, these are good looking cars. Under the skin is perhaps the best Maserati luxury sedan ever made and maybe the best luxury sedan on the market. I just wish they would make them look more distinctive. The nose looks very Maserati, the rest not so much. If you are in the market for a luxury sedan you have to look at this car. The Ghibli V6 sounds great as does the Q V8.
This worries me. Is Maserati destined to become another Porsche or Jaguar, formerly exotic and now a mass market car? I really don't want to see a couple of Maseratis every day. Where's the thrill in that? But then, failure worries me even more.
I seriously doubt you'll have mechanical failures or quality issues with these two new cars. Dealer coverage is an entirely valid point though. I think it's still going to be something of an adventure proposition in buying one of these. But they will remain exclusive at least for a while. Apparently you will not be disappointed with the chassis & engine (sans diesel)/exhaust note so go drive one and report back as to whether it's appeal is significant enough over the similar Audi/Benz/BMW/Jahuar/Cadillac/Infiniti/Lexus to justify the dealership inconvenience? Those companies make very nice cars as well. Several have over 500HP with 4WDtoo! What an amazing age of automobiles we live in.
I think you are exactly right. I agree that I don't like that idea either. But the lease program would make it so. maybe that's the corporate plan?
1983: "Maserati engines explode" 2013: "Maserati sales explode" Honestly, the new Ghibli is the best looking car in it's class with the best interior. I'm not surprised people like it.
Bob ... no engines exploded in 1983. There weren't event any Maserati's here at the time. No engines exploded ever, the bottom end is plenty stout. But some lost their cam belts. Just like Ferrari. Do I need to reference those thread(s)?
Sounds like the Long Island dealership up here. As the largest volume dealer in the US last year, I suspect they're licking their chops...
I'm very excited for what is to come of the Maserati brand and am certainly glad they have moved past the poorly done cars of the 80s.
