Just wanted to show off my first Maserati sticky button job to you guys. Had alot of emails about the sticky buttons around the Nav system in Spyders and Cambio Corsa models. Had a graphics company make up new vinyl overlay decals so I could replace them after stripping. A few pics of the upper dash vent before and after and the buttons before and after.....Would like to hear your thoughts---Always looking for better ways to do things...

The question is how did the buttons get in such bad shape to start with, just from normal useage?

I believe it is the new plastic outgassing into the coating Ferrari uses over top the plastic, eventually turning the coating into goo.....No other car maker that I know of puts a coating over brand new plastic in a vehicle. It is usually just colored ABS plastic to match the interior...

What a breath of fresh air!

I am seriously tired also with the sticky buttons.

Please PM me how much do you paid for all those, if you don't mind.

So a 2002 Maserati is already melting it's buttons?

Must be just the sh*tty materials introduced by Ferrari. None of my Biturbo Era cars do this and neither does my Bora. Those cars have been in plenty of heat & sun since 1985 too. I actually use them.

What the hell does Ferrari use, pasta?

i have noticed more than buttons that come up short. chrome falls of vents, leather worn off all edges. and of course good old clutch design that failed at 8000. Speaking of Bora, is it together.

i pulled out all the a/c vents, door handles, center console, dash vents and the bezel plastic pieces around the steering wheel and cleaned them with googone and water/soap...ABSOLUTLEY unbelievalbe how much shiyt comes out... at least 5 white shop towels completely black after cleaning

to remove the parts carefully took about 2 hours. cleaning time about 2 hours. dry time about 2 hours. reintall took about 2 hours.

outcome is great... didnt even have to spray coat them with any type of black finish just put a nice coating of conditioner.... they look stock and like new.

My panels near the window controls on my Audi are doing the same thing, not terrible, but it's kinda sticky and nothing can fix it. It's on 'soft touch' plastic bits. So it's not just a Ferrari/Maserati thing.

The vinyl overlays look a little wierd in the foto's. Is that a flash thing? How are the overlays handled by the factory (you can't see the edges for example). Hard to explain, but the redo's don't seem to look like the factory in terms of how the overlay looks, at least in the pictures.
