A very good price. Very well bought! A beautiful part of Maserati history.

Hopefully someone didn't buy the boat for a 450 SS replica. The seller had much interest in the just the engine.

Don`t agree here! This lot went for little money - the engine alone is much more worth...

Well Maserati prices, except for some of the spares, were not stellar at Pebble auction with 2 nice race cars unsold..confirming that auction is not the best place to sell a competition Maserati...

From the "2 nice race cars" you mention as "not sold", one does not have a good provenance.....!

No Walter, we agree 100%. My point is that the Timossi-Maserasti IS the bargain of the last ten yeas. It has to be.

450 S engine, documented and undisputed racing and championship history, fully Maserati factory backing and support.

Bertocchi was a tech and representative of Maserati for the boat.

This hydroplane is the 250F of all racing craft.

To see it sold for $250,000 USD, was shocking, the engine alone is worth much, much more.

Hopefully, it won't be restored and will be preserved, maintained and raced.

Didn't the marine engines have a much larger capacity than the 450S engine?

    Best,

    Jack.

I totally agree to the assessment of the value of the boat. That why I bought it. It is coming to Germany.

The 450S engine #4515 is complete with magnetos, carbs etc.
The boat itself is beautifully preserved.

    Hi Guys,

Australia has a motor race championship known as E C Griffiths Cup, it was started in 1910 & is still running, in the 1960s an Aussie - Ernie Nunn won this race in 1963 & 1968 in his Hydroplane Speed Boat which was called Wasp, he ran Maserati Marine Engines for many years here, in the early 1990s all the engines were purchased in Sydney, I photographed them & from memory there were about 6 - 8 engines in total all in dismantled state but complete, I have misplaced the photos however I will try to find them, there was also a Ferrari 290MM engine used in a boat here, I have an original piston from one of these Maserati Marine Engines in my collection, for more information Google - Ernie Nunn Motor Boat Racing also EC Griffiths Cup Australia.

I then bought all of them from Terry. Sold 1 to The Lord Brocket. That turned into one of best car guy stories ever.

.....but we really need to see (and especially hear) something like this video; but without the extraneous babbling!

FF to 3:30, then enjoy with audio UP, then stop at 3:55

and please, do not under any circumstances add any 'music' to your video, ala RM's sales piece!

Looking forward to your video!! ;-)
