Understandable for the Bora. But the bids for the other Maseratis were not that far from the estimates. So why did they not sell? (or schills?)
https://www.goodingco.com/auction/amelia-island-auction-2023 Doesn't look like pricing is slowing down for other marques. Look at the estimate for that Daytona spider and coupe. Meanwhile ... Ghiblis go for chump change, Boras too. Investors only want the very old Maseratis and race cars. MC12 being an exception as well.
The down side is that many Maseratis won't see the kind of restorations that so many of them desperately need. It's always been this way since I've owned them but it's not just Maseratis. Plenty of Lamborghinis won't get that level restoration either. Restorations and not just concours level ones can cost a F of a lot of money and it isn't getting any easier.
Yes. As of the MC12: the CORSA-version is today the cheapest as it is not a real GT-car nor is it a real race car - its in between and only good for track days etc. Some owners converted their CORSA for road use but its not easy to drive on public roads, not to mention in inner cities etc. STRADALE- together with the GT1-version are now the most valuable MC12. 1 1/2 years ago, I brokered a GT1 for 4.5m Euro. Since these pure race cars had been accepted to run in the Le Mans-Classic event in 2022, the price-tag for these cars became significantly bigger....
One perspective on the Retromobile auctions. Basically, it was even odds a car with a reserve would sell https://www.hagerty.co.uk/articles/market-analysis/8-things-we-learned-from-the-paris-auctions/
Amelia auctions Maserati still not getting respect, kind of depressing Ghibli SS #2316 sold $162,400 including fees Indy 4.2 #504 sold $61,600 including fees Bora 4.9 #686 sold $126,000 including fees
I was the under bidder on the yellow Bora today at RM. Yellow was the original color of the car. Paint had many stress cracks, although looked ok from 10 feet. Hard to buy a Bora without the opportunity to test drive it, so I stopped bidding. If there were no major issues it was a decent purchase. Ivan

The really depressing part is you could have bought all 3 of these Maseratis plus probably a Khamsin for the price paid for this Islero https://www.goodingco.com/lot/1968-lamborghini-islero-400-gt/
Yes, I am at Amelia Island as I will be judging tomorrow (Sunday). This year there were four auctions, some going on at the same time. There were a couple of Maserati race cars at RM, the monofaro sold for about a million and the A6G for about 2 million. Ivan
$2.59M and 9th highest sale at Amelia this year. Also, the Indy at RM Sotheby's was a bit below average condition.
