Quite some classic Maseratis among the lots auctioned today, tomorrow and sunday at the Milano Fiera.

A lot of bidders, a marathon auction session today. I would say between 5000 and 6000 people registered for bidding (I stood in the queue for 2.5 hours yesterday just to register...)

An overiew until now: (all prices not including 12percent comission plus VAT on the comission)

1971 Ghibli SS yellow (I think?)non matching no papers rusty incomplete 105.000€
1968 Mexico burgundy hopeless wreck 26000€
1974 indy 4.9 l. blue fair paint, matching, with libretto (registration) 102.000€
1971 Ghibli d. blue partly disassembeled with parts in boot (?) non matching 160.000€
1965 Mistral 3.7 white matching unrestored, rusty wheels 110.000€
1968 Mexico 4.2 blue matching nice car, complete, libretto, borannis, unrestored 85.000€
1968 Mexico 4.7 white poor paint, unrestored, libretto, matching 80.000€
1970 Ghibli l. blue matching unrestored but fair car, dented, 165.000€
1970 Ghibli SS, red, matching, restored but so-and-so paint, 270.000€
1973 Bora, silver, matching, libretto, nice driver, 180.000€
1967 QPi1, burgundy, libretto, matching, nice car needing TLC, 55000€

All in all strong prices for cars that are unknown to run, with little or no paperwork, and several of them possibly incomplete.

For the rest the expeted completely absurd money for everything Porsche 911, Volkswagen - excuse me, Porsche 356 - and Jaguar e-type, but also very strong money for special BMWs (Z1, Z3M, 635 CSI M), and early Giulia series (Duetto, GTA, Sprint GTV)

A madhouse but fascinating to be in the middle of it.

Today several cars went for 5 times or more than what I was prepared to give for them...

50.000 for a Fiat Dino coupé, 77.000 for a DB7... not much sign of a downturn in the market here in Milan today!

    cheers,

    Tom, Belgium, from Milano Fiera

Strong showing for the Indy 4.9 - these have been undervalued for very long and with the 4.9 engine and rare 5-speed transmission - this particular model is heading up.

Thanks very much for posting those results Lambotom. RM and the Italian revenue must be delighted! I hope the buyers are too when they try and piece together their new purchases...some of them looked rather challenging.

    Enjoy the remainder in Milan.

    Best.

    Mark.

The Khamsin should be going through today, unfortunately they damaged it somewhat during transport...

Good price on the Indy, nice to see.

    Best regards,

I wonder if they were trying to move the poor Khamsin with no brake pressure. ))))-:
I am still expecting a hefty price when it goes on the block. Could you post what it achieves please Marc?

    Hi Mark,

Damage to K's by truckers is all too common whether they are surprised at how sharp the steering is...or try to let them down a ramp with ignition off hence no brakes...
I am not at the auction but will post price when I hear if those attending don't.

    Best regards,

    Marc

On facebook someone said that the K was a fake number hence the low price.

Why do you think this one was non-matching? I was told the chassis/engine do match (unless it was restamped as for the other cars).

What is a "fake number"? A stolen car with title from a wreck? Or . . . ?

It seems there is another car out there with this identity. Whether that says something about this car or the other car is unknown to me at this time...

The Khamsin was discussed in the Khamsin thread, see http://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/maserati/187217-maserati-khamsin-329.html, starting at post #6563.

Some numbers of this car at the RM Duemila auction are missing, and the chassis number is shown in the photo as AM120.096. But a car with this number already exists in Austria.
The engine number of the RM car ends with 032, so, assuming this is the original engine, the correct chassis number of the RM car is PROBABLY AM120.032, but I don't think this is official yet.
