Mass shootings: Poll question

Whoops! Out of 4 people who voted, I'm the only one to say "alive".

If the shooter is dead, then who really knows what pushed him over the edge. After we learn why people do these things, doesn't it make some sense that we will be able to stop some of these events from happening?

Oh and by the way, anyone who goes on a rampage like this is a little crazy so I'm not inclined to have them killed even after we know why/ how they did the deed.

I say whoever kills someone should ether be killed or rehabilitated then killed.

 

I think it's easier to move on if the gunman is dead on the day. From what I've seen, "closure" can be elusive if not an illusion for many. Trials might be helpful for some families, but they have simply added to the misery and trauma for the people I know (all of those situations, however, have been tragedies that afflicted just one family). This assumes that all of the killers are known and known to be dead.

 

Dead. And make it a slow death.

 

I'd say in 9 out of 10 cases they're suicide missions for these people and or they wind up dead. So any post dealings with them(alive anyways) won't be of any concern.

At least long enough for the family to get closure, to understand why the person did it, and learn ways to potentially stop it from happening again.

Then give the person the death sentence......

 

Better off dead and buried IMO.

There is no such thing as "closure". Also in order to kill someone you need to be nuts but that is no excuse for not being executed. If you kill the shooter then the deal is done. Not phoney trial with bleeding heart anti death sentence people . Remember "it is better to kill 1 inocent person then to let 9 murders go free".

I'd prefer to see the person shot by the authorities during the incident.....Maybe some victim's families would feel some sort of justification rather than hearing this person testify to their crime in court with excuses....You know the case would just drag on with them claiming insanity or some BS....I think if the person kills themself then it's a "cop out" and I would be more pissed than anything else....Just my .02....I dunno, thankfully I have not been placed in that situation, and I feel horrible for those that have been....

 

Though I don't condone active vigilantism I wish there had been one onsite for every incident of this type.

It never a mystery why they did it to people that are rational. It's only the hand wringers that fail to get it. It is also the hand wringers that prevent us from putting those people where they belong to start with. Lots of people that are out and about loose that should be put away for their and our sake. Few if any that do this fail to give us a lot of warning and many have been before a judge or doctor that could not or would not do what was needed to protect society.

We put down mad dogs every day because they bite but what about mad people? They have rights so we let them wander among us.

 

Personally, I think they should live. Suicide is the p u $$ y way out of it. They have no accountability, no suffering for their crimes. They just get out of it, no punishment. It's bull crap. I think they should go to prison for the rest of their lives and live in a tiny cell, all alone, to ponder and think about what they've done.

 

Do you really think Charles Manson has been suffering for his crimes? He's having the time of his sick twisted life. I for one am tired of paying for it.

No reason to drag the taxpayers into it & let the criminals sit for years on death row. As for a trial & found guilty without a doubt, I really think if we went back to the old fashion court house public hangings, the crime rate would be substantially lower.

 

They should definatly live. It helps the psychologists, law enforcement, and weapons retailers have an insight into how these things happen and how to stop them.

Exactly what i thought.

 

I always admired the Japanese who caught that one general trying to commit seppoku and they stopped him, revived and healed him enough to put him on trial for war crimes and then executed him for it.

I can appreciate the sense that if they take their own life they "cheat" the families of their victims of the chance of facing them and conveying their anger/dissapointment/sorrow to the perpetrator. Also, in the Japanese sense, I would want to prevent any thought of "honor" by killing themself.

 

Caliber of choice - .25 ACP. There's a reason.

Keep him hooked up to drip-feeds, to prolong execution of the executioner by executioners.

Have him stand barefoot, taking special note of his pinky toe.

Announce with great fanfare, you're going to shoot one appendage at a time, starting with the smallest.

Then, "Ready, Aim... Fire!"

Shoot his dick.

After he's regained consciousness from going into shock, "this little piggy went wee, wee, *Boom* all the way home.

Repeat on other pinky toe, shooting each next bigger toe on each foot, then, fingers, arms, legs, neck... as long as the King For A Day is still alive, taking care to make sure he's extra-extra-dead before checking vitals.

 

Alive...

if only so that the families of those killed in the shooting get to have their own Firing Line if they so choose.

If he gets killed by someone trying to stop the mass killings... fair enough.

But for them to suicide... alive is better.

 

The really neat thing about killing the SOB or executing him is- He'll never do it again. No reprieve, no weeping and blaming it on society. No feeling all fuzzy, No infringing on other people's rights. HE WILL NEVER DO IT AGAIN!!!!

I'm all for getting rid of what's NEEDS getting rid of...

Like I said in my last line. Find out why, then kill him.

 

I think we all know the reasons these things happen. I think a big reason why they continue is that they make the news and it propagates the problem. Everybody wants to be famous.

 

Well he was different, he didn't go on a shooting spree, he commanded others to kill. I thought we were talking about people who go on random/postal shooting spree's.

I can agree with the taxpayers not having to pay for them to spend time in the can, but honestly can you justify having to pay for a guy to go to prison over a bag of weed? No, I can't, personally. My point is that there are things taxpayers pay for that need to be addressed before anyone throws a hussy over paying to jail a murder.

 

Better off alive, and as a punishment inflict physical...(and I mean physical!) pain equal to that which he/she caused his/her viticms, their families and anyone else hurt by their actions.

IMO, our current sytem is far to lienent in it's deliverence of retribution.

Make people "feel" real, lasting, blood wrenching, nightmarish pain as punishment for their inhumane acts and I bet you'd see a drop in violent crime....
