Too lazy to break it down, so here the aggregated results for the Ferrari years: Championships Kimi 1 Massa 0 Points Kimi 233 Massa 213 Poles Kimi 5 Massa 12 Wins Kimi 9 Massa 9 Podia Kimi 26 Massa 21 Fastest laps Kimi 16 (won the fastest lap award in 2007 and 2008) Massa 10
IF kimi goes to Red Bull, Vettel will leave and probably place himself in a Ferrari, next to Alonso. That useless Brazilian will have no chance, after all he was beat to the WDC by an underachieving Finn.
Perhaps but from the very few non-published comments that I have heard there really was a major cultural clash and communications breakdown between Ferrari and Kimi. Basically Ferrari folks are used to being adored by everyone but Kimi just didn't give a **** about any of that. To him Ferrari was just a race team that employed him. Most of them simply could not take Kimi's feedback without getting their underwear in a bundle. The notoriously direct, if much more personable, Salo had similar problems with Toyota. It seems that LdM and the Robertsons shared a management failure there. But that is NOT why there is so much hatred for Kimi. The hatred stems from the fact that everything always seems to come so easily to Kimi without him having to break a sweat or get distressed by adversity of any sort. Exceptionally talented people are sometimes like that and losers simply cannot tolerate it. Too bad.
If Kimi was fired, why did they pay him compensation for his remaining contract period?. Define "a good investment". Ferrari could have paid kimi throughout his Ferrari contract and never have seen a WDC from him, it would still have cost them the same amount of money. As it stands, they got A WDC from him which Massa has so far failed to do. How much has Massa been paid so far, only to deliver no WDC's?. Kimi was an outsider for the Championship coming into the last race of the season and pulled off the "impossible", winning the Championship from under the noses of the two favourites. He didn't give up and won it in his first season at Ferrari after years of failing to win it at McLaren. I would say this makes him very notable in the entire history of F1. Up until Massa's accident, the car was set up with a compromised balance to try to accommodate both drivers driving style. This implies that Ferrari didn't rate either driver above the other, otherwise they would have set the car up purely around the favoured driver at the cost of the other. The implication was that Ferrari felt either of their drivers was their best chance of victory. Massa was able to adapt to this compromise better than Kimi was. After Massa's accident they set the car up purely for Kimi's style, at the cost of the second drivers. There's no guarantee of that though, if Kimi went there and the car suited him, Vettel could end up struggling against him, afterall, Kimi's no slouch when it comes to racing. On this point I completely agree. Let Me ask you this, if Massa is rated as Ferrari's best chance of winning a WDC, why did they pay to release Kimi a year early when, as you claim, he's a driver who Massa can dominate, and then pay even more money for Alonso, who they suspect Massa will not dominate?. Surely it would have made more sense to keep Kimi the extra year, make the car suit Massa's style of driving and save the money?. The only reason Ferrari has hired Alonso is because they figure they require another dominant driver in the team like Schumacher was, and that Massa, nice guy as he is, is not that driver.
Yes and yes. You cant really say either driver outclassed the other. It is too bad Kimi didn't have more motivation, he would have driven circles around Massa (as expected).
Had Massa won the WDC that year, it would have been a hollow victory. And you can thank Porno Max for that and his show fixing side kick Bernie. He was however gracious in defeat and hence respected, and did a very good job surprising alot of naysayers in the process. He will do well to hang on to Alonso's shirt tails this season, the same applies to Button on Hamilton, maybe they will get lucky.
this is what i have been saying for some time now...that has resulted in some to imply that their own cuturally centered views are correct, and that Kimi's attitude..his 'life' views, are garbage. you are correct sir, it results in resentment from those who have vastly differing views of how things 'should' be done. anyhow, i wont get into that any deeper.
Kimi had the natural talent in Spades. Thats the reason I admired him. He had the burning desire and drove phenomenally while at Mclaren. When he went to Ferrari I thought it was going to be a perfect situation for him/them. Instead he squandered an opportunity and everyone lost. Massa doesn't have the gifted natural talent. He's very very good just not a virtuoso. Instead he makes up by having to break a sweat. And he is driving for Ferrari this year.
+100000 ...for some reason he seemed 'distracted' or just simply didn't get on with the italian squad and its nuances...even though he won a WDC his first season, i still wasn't convinced he was fitting in right from the get go...At Mclaren, his 'i'm having a ****' personality seemed to work fine with the cold and calculated 'feel' of that team...weird...at Ferrari his personality could've made it very difficult to 'fit in'..to communicate as well as he should. Massa has fit in quite nicely, and has made the most of his circumstances and given Ferrari a very good roi...
Im wrong? Ask LH he didnt have much to say about Budapest and the move Felipe slapped on him, or LdM then since the contract for Felipe was renewed again. Ferrari paid off Kimi, fired or let go take your pick. Facts is Felipe is driving for Ferrari and Kimi is on a junior rallye team after being told no thanks, by multiple teams over his salary demands, and I would imagine his distinctly non dominating performance at Ferrari over all.
+1. I have not defended Felipe and said he had more talent than Kimi. Kimi didnt use it and suffered. I defend Felipe's results because he has faced adversity, overcame it, worked hard and made a life for himself at Ferrari with a respectable legacy. I was a major Kimi fan but not anymore. No reason to be. He is over rated and if you dont use your talent it doesn't exist.
i agree with your first part...i disagree with the second. i don't think he's overrated...i just think he let his other life 'needs' distract him from his F1...but to him he prob thinks he balanced them fine, and i am not one to say my view is right and his is stupid...i still admire kimi for having enough ballz to be who he has always been...the care free attitude...the 'i refuse to be a media puppet' ... even though that's sometimes required of his job. am i disappointed that, to me, he seemed distracted, and didn't seem to have used 100% of his talent? sure. but i will never whip on him for being 'unmotivated'...i have met plenty of fellow athletes that 'seem' unmotivated because they are simply different people.
hey now, lets remember Kimi said he could've stayed to race this year, but it would've been on a team that had 'emotionally' and biznesswise moved on and eagerly anticipated Alonso and Santander, and it was in both Kimi's and Ferrari's best interest to part ways now and not later...not a bad divorce for both parties. and yes, he 'priced himself out' of other rides because he had to be 'happy' with ALL of his needs (prob plenty of off days to party instead of do media req). i've competed against a couple of guys who did that...wanted their 'other needs' met along the way but was willing to walk away if it didn't happen exactly how they needed it...and perfectly fine with it too. and i wish i could pick and choose like that. i'm not that good, that marketable...yet
so whatta ya think are the odds that the playing field is again manipulated if one guy starts to eat up all the points so soon i mean, at least GET CREATIVE when trying to weasel with the WDC..and the WCC
