He has every right to pursue this based on Bernie‘s big mouth. Justice!

Massa has information he did not have fifteen years ago. That's the crux of all of this.

The cover-up. A lying corrupt cover up as admitted by Bernie himself. We expect a level playing field as fans. I’m glad he has legal assistance and possibly this action will prevent a future situation similar!

Interesting that Bernie now retracts , saying he doesn't remember saying that.
If Bernie's alleged statement is the pivotal argument in this case, Massa's lawyers are starting on the back foot, IMO.
Bernie could become an unreliable witness, and his age could even be brought into question.
Yes, Massa has the "right" to sue, but is it sensible ? I don't think so.
Somebody will be ending with egg on his face, and I wonder who.

Good on Massa, i hope the draggs 2008 trough the mud, it was a beautifull year destroyed by some crooks. Hamilton is not to blame, but Massa is the deserving Champion......difficult case to judge and solve, but sweaping it under the carpet like it never existed is neither fair or the solution. Time should not be a reason to validate injustice.

I would argue that he lost is in Australia, when his car broke due to a crappy ECU that everyone was forced to use and that was built by the team caught cheating the year before, and whose driver managed to win the title....curious isn't it!

For those who are denigrating his decision: Are you willing to pony up the 10s of millions he's lost due to NOT being crowned champion? This isn't ego, he suffered a real economic loss due to the coordinated actions of others.

It was the Ferrari pit crew that cracked under pressure in Singapore, regardless of the race rigging by Renault. They were in control of how that pit stop went, and they failed under the pressure.

Massa was also in control of his own destiny for the almost 50 laps that followed the pit stop disaster, and his emotions afterwards crippled his ability to make the best of the situation. I mean, Massa was the second to last of the remaining runners at the end! That's on him.

Yeah, we don't know how the grand prix would've unfolded without Piquet's stunt. We also don't know Massa wouldn't have crashed out of the race anyways. We'll never know. That's fate. But at the end of the day, Hamilton won the championship straight up, imho.

Personally, when Massa's engine blew in Hungary, I knew it was all over.

Massa never lost "10s of millions"; he never had them.
You can only miss what you had before.

What IF Bernie, along with Mosley, deleted the WHOLE Singapore2008 race because of "crashgate." That means the rest of the season remains as is thereby Massa winning the season.

    I doubt anything happens though.

We'll never know what would have happened IF.... it's not like the championship was decided on this race, which was not the last of the season either. So if this race would have created another situation for the rest of the season, there is no guarantee about the final outcome. Actually if the result would be changed now (so after having let the rest of the season unimpacted and leading to Massa winning) one may argue that there could have been a different result in case of an immediate cancellation of Singapore's result since all teams would have had the opportunity to react one way or another, creating different conditions.
Massa may want more money, but his claims are hypothetical.

I believe Massa is referring to business deals as in commercials or sponsorship with the local Brazilians.

Didn't Kimi do commercials with UPS and the like back in the day(after 2007)?

You can't just delete a whole race and pretend it never happened like that.

Ferrari and Massa wouldn't be the only ones effected. Rosberg and Williams would lose their hard earned points, and the former would fall in the title standings. How is that fair? It isn't in any way whatsoever.

The obvious fair thing to do would've been to disqualify Renault and Alonso from Singapore, and promote everybody one position. But that would've only made matters worse for Massa, as Rosberg would've gotten his first win, Hamilton would've gotten two extra WDC points, and Massa would still be outside the points.

I'm not the one suggesting to delete a whole race, it was Bernie and Mosley suggesting to delete the whole race....fyi.

Yes, but Massa "missed" nothing. It would be more appropriate to say he "failed to gain" ...

The alleged loss of profits from not being WDC will be difficult to prove.

Mosley had a beef with Ron and McLaren. That's no secret. So it doesn't surprise me Mosley had some weird fantasy of deleting an entire race from memory that would've made Massa champion, if meant McLaren got screwed in the end. Thankfully, cooler heads prevailed, and that very silly idea wasn't attempted.

As for Bernie, he's just an old fool looking to stay relevant.

Nope, Renaults actions changed the course of the hole event, so everything that happened after the crash was rigged, one way or the other.
Maybe Sanremo 86 wasn't fair either, some say the italians oficials were robbing peugeot, Fiorio still claims Lancia was robbed, i'm not sure, but the rally results were changed....
To me the biggest problem with this story is that Hamilton didn't do anything wrong, he was just lucky and got the championship handed to him on a silverplate, without deseerving it, but again, he didn't do anything wrong...not on that race, he did it in others...
But neither did felipe, he dominated qualifying, was dominating the race, and then was robbed, just as simple as that....to talk about Ferrari blunber in the pitstop is irreleveant, since it was a cause of renault actions.

I consider the Crashgate and Massa's pit incident 2 different issues, and I cannot understand why they should be related.

Massa didn't DNF because of Renault; he did because his refuelling stop was botched and ended in total disaster .

Neither Piquet, nor Renault, Briatore or Symmons were responsible for the Ferrari pit crew giving the wrong signal to Massa.

take a look at Jonny depp trial against Amber Heard...he sued for the money he "lost" because Disney and others canceled movies he was going to do, and failed to because of Amber's actions!

No, it could have happened during any pit stop regardless: it was a technical fault from Ferrari !!

THose who F**** up on that day were the Ferrari crew. Massa should sue them perhaps ?
