Yeh I Know And on the same count Massa should Know DC wouldn't let him through , DC didnt balls up his race with a spin at the start so why should he let Massa pass him playing catch up, besides would you let someone past you that give you the bird..it takes more than driving skill to pass your foe, brains help. Thats it I'am through with it it's a waste a time..
No he balls up his race by turning into Massa. DC had a better line, more speed and would have held his position in front of Massa out of the turn easily.....if he'd gotten that far.
it's soooo entertaining, seeing all these staunch Shumassa supporters come out of the woodwork. y'all have your work cut out for ya this year! for all the support and the blame on DC in that wreck, i find it pretty funny (and not surprising) that Massa's first corner fiasco nary gets a mention by the Shumassa crowd GREAT RACECRAFT!!! HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHA!!!
Kimi wasn't in 15th when he made his mistakes he was going for 3rd or 4th so you're reasoning is useless.
While I do agree with your assessment of Massa and the way he handled the race on Sunday you still blindly support Kimi much in the same way you accuse everyone of blindly supporting the team. Kimi flew off track in a pass attempt that was completely and unquestionably ill-conceived and horrendously executed.
If the door was never open, then how could Massa get next to DC? Keeping the door closed means, that if a faster driver tries to overtake you by taking the inside line (or the outside line), you should protect your position. How can you protect your position? By coming OFF the race line and get in front of the guy who tries to overtake (outbrake) you. If you don't do this and the overtaker gets next to you, you can't just close the door IN the corner, you have to give room (this does NOT mean give up position!!!) and make sure you get out of the corner faster. Closing the door like DC did, ends always in a crash, Massa was way to far beside DC, Massa had nowhere to go. The inside camera showed it very clearly, it was DC driving into Massa, not the other way round! In my opinion DC should have given room, ALOT of room, even go to the outside on the very last moment, hoping Massa to go wide (which he had to probably because he was off the race line and braking late!) Then DC could cross and take the inside after the corner and try to accelerate faster then Massa. Guy
i'm gonna come back to these posts week after week.... perhaps you and the rest of the Shumassa lot should get started on your excuses for the next couple of races...hmm...just a thought, ya know, to get a head start on post race yapping... HAAAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHHAAH!!!!!
So the argument starts with "Massa WAS IN FRONT of DC". Then pics show that to be absolutely untrue. Then it shifts to "Yes but Massa WAS on the racing line!". Then that is shown to be untrue. Then it moves to "well he WAS on the racing line until he got off it" (inexplicably, apparently, since he was in front of DC supposedly). Then it shifts to "yeah well <insert pundits name here> agrees with me and he knows more than you so I'm right!". Then it predictably shifts to the "yeah well you're not a racer so what do you know". So you humps putting forth the "lots of armchair racers here" arguments - go ahead and let us know what professional racing experience you have? And by professional I mean what series have we seen you in? What series were you paid to drive in? ....didn't think so. Like I said, all you have to say is "in my OPINION it was a racing incident" or "in my OPINION DC should have let off". My OPINION is that Massa was in the wrong, but at least it's based on facts like 1) Massa was never in front of DC, 2) Massa was off-line 3) Massa hadn't completed the pass in any way before turn-in. Massa did a kamikaze move - went hard down the inside line trying to bully DC out of the way. Bad move, especially when you're trying to pass DC. I seriously question the racing experience of the folks who say this one is DC's fault - you just back way off when a guy does a hail mary down your inside and parks his front wheels at your rear wheels? Not me. I hold my line. If all it took to "pass" someone was putting your front wheels at his rear wheels, then there would be thousands of passes per season in F1 and hundreds per race. As it happens, racing doesn't work like that, and guys with skill don't try to pass by zooming down the inside with no hope of making the corner while way off line, then expecting the other guy to move over. Most guys have the skill to pass a drastically slower car through racecraft and skill. Other guys resort to barrelling down the inside and pushing people out of their way. It's OK - Massa is in good company with Glock, Nakajima, Sato, Davidson and Alex Yoong. +1 Massa, we're all proud of the display of skill!
+1. And the race series I ran in was only a low level amature club race series, many years ago ... but heck I won it . Pete
Would anybody here support Massa if he didn't drive for Ferrari? Its bad enough that he is at Ferrari through the fact that he is represented by Jean Todt's son, but think about how many better drivers Ferrari could have in the second seat? I sure as hell would feel a lot better if Rosberg, Vettel, Alonso, HK, etc. were in the second Ferrari. Instead of Spin boy who can't make a start without spinning out or a pass without crashing into the guy ahead of him.
I think the mental thought process is that people like Ferrari, and by definition they therefore like the drivers. When someone criticizes either driver, those people get defensive. It could be Yoong in the 2nd Ferrari seat and a certain number of folks would always stick up for him. Also, people love to root for the underdog. Massa is the underdog and a lot of people want to see him do well. Maybe just because he's the underdog or maybe also because he's a nice guy... but whatever it is, they want it and get defensive when he's bashed. Others of us like the TEAM of Ferrari and want the TEAM to do well. If someone ain't pulling their weight, we want to see someone there who is. To me, that Ferrari 2nd seat is just too perfect of an opportunity to have Massa in there, when you consider how many other drivers would die just for the opportunity to have a chance at it, for less money than Massa makes and would be able to produce better results. Thats why I criticize Massa... because he's sorry ass is taking up that seat and preventing someone worthy from having their shot. Massa has had 3 years with Ferrari, more if you consider his time with Sauber. That's enough, IMO. Let Vettel, Kubica, Rosberg, Heiki have their shot. Hell, let Alonso have the shot at it!
I only support Massa because he drives for Ferrari thats it. I would love to have Schumacher, Heidfeld, Kubica, Heikki (Double Finns), Alonso (even though he's a whiner), Vettel, Rosberg, or Nelson Piquet( JK ). Hell, even Rubens is a step up from Felipe. I left Hamilton out because if though he is a good driver he would probably create more problems at Ferrari.
+1. I also agree that Massa only got that seat because MS did not want to be pushed, and because Jean Todt's son is his manager. Now that MS has gone I want a stronger driver pairing. I don't want drivers pushing each other off, but I want 2 Ferraris running within a couple of car lengths, first and second . Pete
Unfortunately for the clown that made that comment, I am a racer and have been for over 20 years. I find some of teh comments here to be so uninformed and laughable that I cringe when I read them. DC ought to have given way?!? To a car that was behind him on turn-in?!? For position?!? Do these people realize that this is an auto race? Do they realize that DC and Massa were fighting for position?!? I expected some ridiculous excuses for Massa's performance on Sunday but this is simply beyond the pale. You folks ought to be embarrassed for yourselves with yoru ridiculous arguments and excuses. Massa had the most pathetic drive of anyone in a Ferrari in at least 20 years. That's it. Period. End of story. Case closed.
