    Ferrari will address the cooling on the F10 in time for the next race, after it emerged Felipe Massa backed off towards the end of the Bahrain Grand Prix to preserve his engine.

    Ferrari changed the engines in both its cars ahead of the race in Bahrain, and although Massa said in the press conference that he backed with 30 laps to go to preserve fuel, it has now emerged that the team had some concerns about overheating. However, team boss Stefano Domenicali is confident there will be a quick and easy remedy.

    "The temperature of the engine is the result of the aerodynamics of the car, so we have to work on that in order to make sure we don't have any more of these kinds of issues for the next hot races," he said.

    Rumours have also resurfaced that the team is working on a B spec car in order to incorporate a new diffuser. It is reported that ex-Toyota CFD expert Giuseppe Azzollini, who now works in Maranello, is behind a diffuser concept that was intended to be used on the TF110.

    The rumoured B-spec car may not just be to incorporate a new diffuser now though, subject to homolagation rules and crash testing, it may be an easier way of also incorporating a McLaren style air system to the rear wing.

    This diffuser the Toyota guy is bringing is supposed to be massive. I wonder how legal it is in it's present form considering the FIA already made McLaren, MB and Renault change theirs.

    I believe Renault's was deemed acceptable. The controversy stemmed from the starter hole which was part of the original appeal last year. The FIA deemed that the McLaren and MB starter hole were more than just that and were being used for an aerodynamic gain.

    We'll see how much of this story pans out to be true. A bigger diffuser sounds great etc. but there needs to be sufficient airflow to feed such a large volume.

    It's obviously possible. Look at McLaren's, it's simply ginormous. I'm looking forward to seeing it next week. Unfortunately, I think this is a pretty big set back for them.

    I believe they were given the notice to change it by Oz even before Bahrain qualifying.

    A bit OT but I don't know what the big fuss about the McLaren wing is. It's not like it helped it Bahrain.

    It may not have brought them a win, but they were consistently at or near the top of the speed trap readings during all three practice sessions and in qualifying. Perhaps this means there is an advantage there for other teams to explore as well.

    It's but one piece to the puzzle.
    Perhaps it did work very well and compensated for areas of the car that were lacking.
    All cars lack in one way or another.
    The car that wins has the least.

    And why does Massa's car have cooling issues and FA's doesnt ?
    Is this an excuse OR (hold your breath) does The Great Alonso recieve special treatment already ?

    I think both cars had cooling issues. FA kept ducking out of Vettel's wake when following him closely. We only heard Massa's radio though, and maybe his car had it worse for whatever reason. These things rarely happen perfectly symmetrically between both cars in a team. Look at Vettel's engine luck between last season and so far.

    I think it's less of a case of special treatment, and more of a case of Ferrari avoiding any potential problems between its two drivers if they challenge one another and protecting the 1-2 finish. Oh, and the fact that there is also probably a legitimate cooling issue.

    Overheating and excessive fuel burn as well.
    Sometimes a rich mixture can bring down temps but probably not going to go there.
    Here comes more aero drag.
