I've been hearing great things about this movie! One review I read said that the marketing campaign is misleading because it shows a bunch of action shots when that's not the primary focus of the movie. Guess they're trying to go after the Brain-Dead-Pirates of the Carribean-Crowd. Is this true?
Jennie and I saw it Friday. Best movie I've seen in a long time. It's really got everything and nothing you don't want. I hope they make more, I guess there are 14 books in the series and this movie was the first two books.
The movie is fantastic. I've read the entire 20 book series - a couple of them more than once - and I can say that the movie really captures the spirit. The story is based loosley on the 1st and 10th books of the series. Weir took some liberties but the end result is great. I'm going back to see it again on Thursday. - Will
The ending was confusing for me....what was the purpose of the chase for the captured French vessel vs. returning to the Galapagos Islands? Feel free to reply privately as to not spoil the plot for other posters.....
