What a great win on a night Dirk and Josh were off on their shooting. Jet saved us with clutch baskets, and shutting the Heat down for 12 fourth quarter points finished the job. My son and I were rooting for Shack to have the record at 10 missed free throws in a row, but he finally made one. I hate the BS calls we get for coming in to the lane early when Shack does his delayed brick release on free throws. I hope we got all first final's game jitters out of our system, and can get back to our normal game. I'm thinking Mavs in 5 now.

I think this series is not going to go less than 6, most likely 7, since it is the 2-3-2 format and those three games at home could help Miami...

I think Miami could give _allas more of a challenge since Dallas has not really played a big, strong team, and a dominnant center, unlike the Spurs in which Pop was stupid enough to play Mav's ball, but they shouldnt have made the mavs play their ball...

Nothing flagrant or intentional but I'm sure getting struck by Shaq in any way shape or form can't feel good. Stackhouse got stitches in his nose after a Shaq collision.

I'm a little embarrassed to admit as much as I like Avery and the Mavs I never thought they were this good a team. Go Mavs!

Shaq injured about 3 people that night, pretty much by standing in place-the guy is just BIG, all he has to do is stand under(or over) the net.

Step 2 accomplished with the win last night. Holding Shaq to 5 points was huge. Wade gets his points, but on another poor shooting night. Walker hurt us a little with some 3's, but they had no one else to step up and score. Stackhouse was the player that stepped up last night, and his 10 points in a minute and 19 seconds to end the first half, pretty much sealed the deal. Did get a little nervous in the 4th, when they cut us down from 27 to 11, but Dirk stepped up with 10 4th quarter points, and that was it. Glad I went with my son to the game, as we may not see the Mavs in person again until the victory parade! GO MAVS !

tough game last night! We got rocked in the first and forth quarters. Wade could have closed his eyes and made shots last night. It was a great game, with a less favorable ending. Onto game 4!

Great third quarter comeback, but the last 6 minutes killed us. Just like the prevent defense in football, when you get out of your rhythm, and try to milk the clock, your shots sometimes quit falling. Give credit to the Heat. Shack and Wade played like superstars, and the secondary guys like Williams and Walker added points at crucial times. We need to win one in Miami. I think Avery will have them ready.

How about this for a slightly different bent: Let's hope the Mavericks lose four (4) in a row, Cuban the Doofus loses all his dot.com/Yahoo gold and the team moves out of town! Sorry.

You know they (the NBA) are only in it for the money, they wouldn't let the Spurs go at it again. cuban is dishing out some serious money to make sure Dallas is where they are at right now, I just hope Miami has more heart than Cuban has money and Miami comes out on top.

Cuban is in the NBA doghouse all the time, so I'm not sure about this conspiracy theory. My son thinks the ref's are rigged to make all the series go to 6 or 7 games if possible. You can see that the superstars always get the calls, and it seems the home court team usually get's more calls too. I do not believe that any of this is decided by the NBA.

Really inconsistant foul calls in this game, but the Mavs only have themselves to blame for the prior 2 losses

Call it what you want, but the Heat FIND A WAY TO WIN! Dirk missed KEY free throws two games in a row. Josh was 9 for 9 in the FREE throw department and misses the 2 big ones that would have put us up by three with 9 seconds to go. With 9 to go....you knew they (the heat) would score. Yeah....that foul on Wade was B.S, but the Mavs put the game in the refs' hands. Then the time out...WHAT THE HELL? They put the game in the hands of the refs and the Heat where they shouldn't have. Another good game with a poor ending... for us anyway

When Wade and Posey hit those jumpers, and got them back to 1, I got worried. The missed free throws killed us. Dirk's before OT would have won it, and Damp and Josh missing 3 sealed the deal. I'm getting concerned that our MVP is having a little final's nerves. After hitting his first shot, he got cold again.
Heard some talk about the backcourt issue at the last throw-in for the Heat. Did he go from the frontcourt to the backcourt? I didn't pay any attention, and what is the rule? Enough whining, back home now, we've got to get it done!

What happened is that, the Heat were inbouding the ball from the sidelined and Wade was on the Frontcourt in front of the guy inboudning but he moved around and caught the ball on the backcourt...yet, you can do that in the last 2 min of the 4th quarter...

Cuban doesnt know that rule, so when he sends his tape in of the mistakes that the refs did like he always does....his education of NBA knowledge will be shown....

^Yep, you're allowed to pass it back there. Sometimes teams go to the extreme and throw it right under the other team's rim. Dangerous to do because sometimes the other team outruns the guy, steals it, and gets 2 pts.

I'd say there was a foul on Wade even though he didn't fall to the ground or wasn't pushed down. The refs called a few BS fouls all night. A couple against Haslem and one that really stood out to me against Walker. Walker was standing still with his feet set, arm up, and Dirk took the shot. Dirk's arm moved forward and hit Walker. Walker didn't move this entire time, didn't even jump, yet a foul call against him.

Now about the last foul of the game. It looks like Harris fouled Wade. http://espn-att.starwave.com/photo/2006/0618/nba_g_wade2_412.jpg
Dirk was pushing Wade, too. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v627/Vladefan21/Miscellaneous/14vpao0.jpg
I think they called the foul on Dirk because Harris was in more foul trouble (I think he might've been fouled out if they called it on him). It's nothing new in the NBA. Refs will call a foul on the guy with the lower amt of fouls if the foul can be called on either of the two players. You'll see a teammate raising a hand if a foul is called to keep their other teammate out of more foul trouble if not fouled out entirely.

I've read some comments before (on other threads) about the large difference in the number of foul attempts between the two teams. Three words: Hack a Shaq. That automatically increases the number of attempts. That's not the main concern, though. What the bigger problem with doing this is that it adds to team fouls. If a team does this when Shaq is about to dunk, he'll shoot and miss two, but they're 1 foul less away from being in the penalty. So instead of Miami having to take the ball from out of bounds, they get to shoot two since they decided to foul Shaq 3 times before in the quarter. Then you also have the Hack-a-Shaq with close to 2 mins left in the quarter and you just add to the FT attempts.

Another thing to look for is that Miami is a terrible FT shooting team so Dallas won't be too worried about fouling them. Dallas, however, is the best in the league so Miami doesn't want them to shoot and will try to play carefully.

I don't think Dallas has anyone to blame, but themselves. They allowed Wade to get to the basket and score 17 in the 4th. They kept Wade at the perimeter in Games 1 and 2 and that's all they have to do to win Games 6 and 7.

P.S. That news reporter during Avery's conference was a *****. Just tell Avery that his team screwed up by not shutting down Wade for the 4th quarter like they did for the first 3. The call was a foul because Wade was fouled. It wasn't flagrant, but it doesn't have to be to call a foul with 2 seconds left.

Dirk should blame himself for his less than great performance. Terry is the guy who is keeping this team alive in the Finals because he will always make the open shot. If Dallas wins it all, he will be the Finals MVP. If Howard and Dirk can play better, they will have zero problems winning game 6. I also think that Stackhouse suspension was justified, I don't care if it's a pre-season game or a crucial Finals gay. The NBA has acquired a Zero Tolerance attitude towards things like this. They won't put up with players going into the crowd and won't put up with intentional flagrart fouls. Hopefully Jerry will learn to not do something as cheap as he did in Game 4 because he is a really good player. If he played lastnight in Game 5, I really think Dallas would've won. He let his team down like Terry did against the Suns.

Howard was pretty dumb to call that timeout. He saw Avery signal for a timeout, but failed to see that Avery said AFTER THE SECOND SHOT. Howard signaled to the Ref and walked to the bench. It's also not the Ref's job to read the minds of the coach. Guess what, sometimes teams call timouts at that time put pressure on the FT shooter. At the end of the day, it was Howard's fault and he should take blame. Refs are not there to ask the team "are you sure you want a TO???"

I give a slight edge of Dallas, 51-49, to win game 7 since it's at their homecourt. I won't be surprised at all if Dallas wins the next two games at home by large margins. I was surprised Miami won by close margins two times on homecourt.

On sports center today, all 3 analysts said that with no contact to the arms and upper body to throw Wade off, you shouldn't let that foul with 1.9 sec decide the game.

Also they did a frame by frame look at Josh Howard's timeout call. He looked directly at Avery the whole time, and was confirming the timeout to his coach. He never even glanced at the ref, much less told him twice he wanted a timeout.

All that said, the Mavs played like **** in Miami, and didn't get it done. They have to prove they deserved to get to the finals with 2 wins.

What the mavs need to do is just forget about it and try to close out...they were worrieing about it to much...the past is the past.

this is exactly what happened with Nowin in the final seconds of the Spurs game...they called a foul and Spurs lost...

If he calls timeout even not looking at the Ref...a time out is a time out, so if they are "confirming" a timeout, something concerning a timeout had to happend...even if you just say it out loud.
