So apparently Max considers the deal off.

    From AutoSport (http://www.autosport.com/news/report.php/id/76546)

    A few priceless quotes...

"It is disappointing that Montezemolo did not keep his part of the bargain we made last Wednesday,"

"I had anyway decided not to offer myself for re-election next October and, given what I have had to contend with during the last 12 months, I needed a peaceful summer before starting a more leisurely existence.

"The compromise we found was therefore acceptable to me personally and seemed in the overall interests of Formula 1. But when FOTA falsely claimed that they had ousted me and imposed their will on the FIA, the situation became intolerable."

He added: "No doubt we face a difficult period. This may well result in short-term problems in Formula 1. It is possible that FOTA will set up an independent series. That is their right, provided they do so under the International Sporting Code."

I really think FOTA should just tell the FIA to shove it and forget them. They simply cannot deal with Max... he makes any negotiation impossible and any deals he agrees to mean nothing, he will go back on his word in a heartbeat.

I thought Bernie told Max he had to go - I wonder what Bernie is doing now?

I really believe Max must be voted out ASAP - officially ousted from office, or the teams just need to stop talking at all with the FIA and run their own series.

Note to Max: When 10 men tell you you're drunk, it's time to sit down.

I think this wish-washy stuff has gone on long enough - FOTA, forget Max, let Williams and Force India stay with him and go off on your own....FOTA even had a big PR firm in place set to go....I say if you are at all remotely serious, then continue with the new series otherwise you'll be just like the kid that cried "wolf" and your credibility will be gone out the window.

Not this crap again....I think I'm going to take a nap until 2010 (or 2011) at this point and hope that its resolved by then.

IMO at this point the teams in FOTA need to just say screw it. Let the FIA/Mosely sue them or whatever and go off and start preperations on the new series immediately. It's not going to fall into place easily and the more time to prepare the better. Clearly this idiot can't be negotiated/bargained/agreed with so it's time to throw in the towel and get busy on the new plans. It's pretty obvious FOTA tried to end this whole mess amicably, however it doesn't seem like Max is going to let that happen.

I think Max considered the deal off from the moment he realized that he'd been tossed under the bus. ;)

The question that needs quick resolution is whether anyone besides the press is paying any attention to anything Max says, at this point.

If FOTA doesn't have the "No Max" clause in writing, it may be time to prepare to build an independent racing series as an alternative to Max's "Formula Whine".

    Agreed

Yet again no one knows where the sport is heading again. It's a horrendus situation that he one man can hold F1 to ransom like this, IF F1 ever gets shut of of him, there must be something written in stone that this can ever be allowed to happen again.

I do like the fact no one is responding his insane ramblings, that will send him further over the edge.

RELAX EVERYBODY!!! There's ONLY three possible solutions, and ALL are good. (1) The FIA realizes Max must go,and they remove him. (2) Max realizes he must go and he moves on(fat chance) and (3) Max stays, FIA can't find their balls and FOTA starts it's new series!!! All good. If Max and Bernie and the FIA think public opinion has shifted in their favor since Wednesday and they are now perceived the good guys because Max is trying to be the martyr, they are mistaken..... Depending on the contractural arrangements with CVC and Bernie, and how much say he has within that arrangement, maybe CVC might want a new partner in FOTA? At the end of the day it's going to be about who has what show to sell, and who the fans are going to buy......I bet on FOTA

One other thought..... I think that Max has had time to think about what has taken place over the last couple of days, and I think he's not very happy with Bernie's stance, and now he could care less about anybody or anything with respect to F1, SO BURN DOWN THE HOUSE with EVERYBODY IN IT!

I just realized that I'm at my wit's end with F1 now: Too much Max Mosley drama, too much Max Mosley power-mongering, too little actual racing. Last time this happened was the USGP fiasco and I didn't watch another race for almost two years.

I've been a lifelong and passionate fan of F1 but, if Mosley comes back to intentionally ruin the sport out of spite, I think I'll just turn it off for good. It's just getting too tough to justify the interest and maintain that passion.

Everythings going to work out just fine! Max is NOT going to ruin F1, LDM/FOTA will see to that. He may just take down his(good) buddy? Bernie, and possibly the FIA, but who gives a rats a$$. I'm actually starting to enjoy all this. Poetic in a way, Max undoes Max and Bernie........Touche' Max

Maybe Bernie will have to give Max a parting cosolation prize $$ to see him go (somewhat) peacefully into the night. Hey on that thought let's all pass around the hat to help Bernie out.......second thought, NOT! :)

This is just stupid. Period. Its this kind of arrogance - a particular brand of European Arrogance - that I hate. These idiots are just running into the wall to kill themselvs ...and I think we should let them. Screw them all. Max and Bernie especially... FOTA needs to **** or get off the pot... stop talking and set up the series. Plain and simple.

F-1 is gone... at least the AOC still is willing to have have real road racing....
