It's him and Jackie Stewart bickering in the press. Here's my favorite quote from Max though:

He added: "It is not the role of the FIA to court popularity by supporting one party or the other. It is the role of the FIA to ensure that the rules of the sport are respected and that fairness is applied consistently for all competitors."

hahaha oh boy - and who is more consistent than the FIA?

If he made you laugh, too bad you didn't see Jean Marie Balestre in his heyday. The guy's face would get discontorted as he would bang his fist on a table at a Press Conference. The Coup de Gras would have to be when he went Rollerskating down the Pit Lane in Brasil one year with a Transvestite, whom I am assuming he thought was a woman. Next he gave his welcome speech to the crowd in Spanish, getting booed by the Brasilians.

I thought this thread was going to discuss the Jackie vs Maxie spat. Personally I think Jackie should have kept his mouth shut and the whole thing would have blown over in a few days. All he is doing with the lawyers is fanning the flames. What does he have to win?

Maybe JS wants to take over for Max. I'm not a JS fan, but just about anyone would be better than Max (and Bernie)....

I believe he does. He is also apparantly tight with RD. There was an article that claimed that Dennis made a special flight in the chopper to place his vote for Jackie as president of the F1 drivers association. Jackie has in turn not been at all shy about spouting forth in favor of McL during all the spygate.

I used to like him as a driver, (and for a while even as a TV reporter), but he lost me as a fan with the mess he made of his F1 team, and lately with all his hot air.

I think he should just stick to doing celebrity cruises teaching little old ladies how to trap shoot off the deck of the ship.

James actually for the budget that Stewart GP had they did a pretty good job all around and actually won a race with Johnny Herbert. I think that when Ford bought them out and rebadged them as Jaguar is when they really fell apart.

I would much rather have someone like Jackie as head of the FIA than Mosley. Maybe innovation will return to F1 instead of the dumb regulations and turning F1 into a Spec sport. Hopefully as a driver he would limit Aero Aids and return to Mechanical Grip. We know his history on Safety as well.

OK, they were a little better than say Minardi, then. But I really think that this guy (JS) is way past his time and I do not think he is a particularly good organizer. He has always been quite opinionated and a very vocal character - but not always on the right side of things unfortunately.

You may be right to a certain extent. JS may be past his time but Max never had a time, The guy is an idiot, look at his family history, and you will see where his attitude comes from. He has done so much to damage the "sport" of F1 which he claims to be protecting. He is one of those laywers who gives all the others a bad name. The sooner he is gone the better.
