    Well I hope so too.

I was the one who said last year, that Porno Max will survive that PR desaster against anybody else on here. I said it because having read about Max' past I knew how well positioned he was to hold on to power.

    So why is this different?
    - For one, it is already a done deal and the authorities have shifted with the new man in charge of F1 (Michel Boeri I believe).
    - Also when push really came to shove, it became clear where Bernie's allegiance was: He was willing to push his friend over the cliff if it meant saving Bernie's fortune. And he delivered Max' head on a silver platter to the FOTA. I'm sure he'd do that again, if Max stepped out of line.
    - Last Wednesday Max basically abdicated. However if he hadn't, the Italian Sports Club president would have called a vote on him. That thread is still out there. But even if it is not materialized, it shows, that Max would have a hard time in reelection in the fall. Why? Because F1 is the most priced crown jewel in the FIA basket and loosing that to a pirate series over which FIA had no control and no monetary gain from, would be unthinkable. There is a limit to what people are willing to take.

That said, I have to congratulate the FOTA for increasing the pressure with their (bluffed) pirate series. And I hope they will continue preparations for it just in case. Not that they would actually split, but to keep the threat of a split hanging over Max' head. It never hurts to have a Damocles sword dangling.

    I agree.
However the Damocles sword has to be real in that if things continue as they are/were then FOTA WILL break away. Which they can and should do if need be.
A threat of a break away without a real intent is a paper-mache sword. Not to be taken seriously.

Bernie has agreed to FOTA that Max will not run for re-election in October.

Mosley may potentially throw his hat (or head if you prefer) into the ring, only to flex his muscles. But he will suffer coitus interruptus and pull out. Already a done deal. But Bernie has already indicated his displeasure with the comments from LdM and FOTA, which have therefore stopped. They violated their agreement

There will be a different president of the FIA for 2010 that is now limited to only two terms, hopefully to prevent a new strain of the Balestosley Disease from reappe.aring.

Yes agreed it would be also worthy to note that Michel Boeri, whom I mentioned early before was key player, to tie it in to the crown Jewels he is president of the Automobile Club de Monaco (ACM) and was widely tipped as a successor to the previous FIA President Jean-Marie Balestre in the early 1990s.

Agreed the parallels in history with Mosley are uncanny, he must believe he is acting them out!, what a sad cretin.
