my f40 has Tubi LM turbos carobu chips and adjustable boost controller we dynoed the car, raising the boost until the computer cutoff came in so there we had to back off the boost some. But judging by the air fuel ratio it appeared safe to continue raising the boost. does anyone know assuming you could make a chip with the right program air/fuel/timing and could raise the overboost cutoff, what would be the maximum safe boost without damaging the motor? I know the LMs ran over 2 bar but I know they had bigger intercoolers ect ect. I imagin that someone that changed to motec or similar can answer this.

I would get in touch with Roland Linder. I would wager he knows as much as anyone about F40's with LM Turbos. He hasn't been on the site in a while,... but you could try to E-Mail him through his user profile:

There're a couple types of LM turbos. Michelotto will sell you an LM turbo (or, two?) and tell you how streetable it isn't - this is the turbo that went on the LM race cars (w/the big intercoolers and some cool internals). Then there's a more gridlock-friendly "LM" turbo peddled state-side. Michelotto offers a similar part, btw (street spec/ball bearings) - but it's not the one you'll get if you request LM from them. Not certain, but the type of LM turbo on your car (along w/an internal part, or two) may effect the amount of boost you'll want to angle for.

with a race car I Imagine anything goes. its a constant evolution. my Lm turbos came from carobu theyre only slightly larger than factory, but by the data we got after the dyno it seemed safe to increase boost. I just read in an article on Car magazine that the ferrari engineers said that with a cam and turbo change the car would make 700hp. my question is more interested trying to find out, assuming I have the right tune, how much I could raise the boost without hurting the motor
