Hard to believe it has been 18 years since that tragic day and weekend. All I want to say is if you are an F1 fan, see Senna. If you are a younger fan who didn't get the opportunity to see him, see Senna. Love him or hate him, he was one of the all time greats.

I'm 12 at that time watching the race with my dad on tv plus it's my 1st time watching a F1 race then the crash.

I really don't know anything F1 back those days but i still remember the expression of my dad's face at that time.

I remember my wife and I were just walking out the door to head to an antique show when they announced it on ESPN. I never would have believed Senna would die in a one-car accident, but I could certainly picture him being involved in a huge pile up, probably caused by Senna running into someone who didn't care to move out of his way without a fight.

I remember that day like it was yesterday. Very sad day for me, and for many.

I remember it perfectly, and you know the stupidest thing? When i saw Ayrton leave the track my first reaction was "yes, one less in front of Berger"!!! I was so used to see accidents where nobody got hurt, i didn´t even realised the danger of it...truth is, ever since Gilles's death en 82, it seemed impossible for someone to die in an f.1 car....De Angelis death was not during a race, and i´m not even sure if i knew about Roland, i has skiped practice that weekend....i remenber watching berger accident at the same place in 89 and it seemed a lot worst so, even when i saw the williams wreck i though Ayrton would be ok...for a while he didn´t move and i got worried, than his head moved a bit and i thought he is fine....unfortunatly i couldn´t be more mistaken.... It was a doomed g.p from the satrt, Rubens had his huge accident, than Roland died, at the start Lamy hit J.J's benetton, than Senna crashed, than Alboreto hit someone in the pits...what a tragedy!!!
Black, black day....Don´t know why the best ones always die.....Clark, Gilles and Senna, probabaly the 3 best f.1 drivers of all time...all of them gone to soone.

Yes, it has been 18 years since Senna died on May 1, 1994; but people still seem to forget that only one day before, April 30, 1994, Roland Ratzenberger died at Imola.

He may not have been an F1 World Champion, but he was a talented driver who lost his life that same weekend (and at 33 years of age, like Senna).

So please, when you remember the tragedy of the dead of one, remember the other one who always seems to have not existed in people's minds.
