    Rob, congrats!!!!

I wish I could go to the factory, but my family visits in Italy are always during August (when all the industries in Italy shut down for national holidays).

BTW Rob...I've still got those distrubutors you sold me 3 years ago. ;)

I'm going back in August for my grandfathers 100th birthday.

Hold on to those distributors. You will be happy to have them the day your caps and rotors wear out.

Auguri for your nonno. What part of Italy is he from?

As for the distributors, on the advice of Luigi (ex-Ferrari dealer) I've in fact decided to shelve them and use them once my present hardware wears out. As he said (very sternly): "La tua macchina camina bene?...allora non toccarla!!!"

    Bernie,

If it works don't fix it so your mechanic is spot on. As for my Grandfather, he is from a town called San Felice Circeo. It is a coastal town approximatly 1 hour south of Rome and just outside of Latina.

    Sheldon,

You can book this tour through your local Ferrari dealer. You need to own a car but the nice bit is that there is no charge. How often do you go to the dealer and get something for free.

    Rob,

Congrats on the factory tour! I take it this is your first factory tour? Will you be coming out on the 27th now or will you be taking that time to pack?

Be sure to let us know all about it.

    Cheers,

    Andrew

Actually it is near impossible to get a factory tour without owning a car regardless of how much you want to pay. A few years back the Canadian Consul in Milan (a friend of my Dad's) just bearly got one for me but I was unable to attend due to bad timing. This will be a first for me.

As for Sunday, I won't be able to attend Andrew. I'm actually racing at Mosport and the rally has to take a back seat. I'm leaving next Wednesday and realize that I will miss the concours to. Maybe my brother will take the car out while I am gone but I won't be there.

L'anno scorso, sono stato in Italia per il mio viaggio di nozze. Era in Maggio. Quando ho chiesto qui a Ferrari of Ontario per il permesso di andare a la fabbrica, mi ha detto che la fabbrica e' chiusa durante le competizioni di Formula Uno perche' c'era tanti secreti. Allora, la storia e' cambiata??

Hello Rob, first and foremost congrats on your Grandfather's 100th. That's awesome. The coastal area where he is sounds spectacular which I am sure add's to his good health.

Also, congrats on the Factory tour. However, I have a good friend who went in 2002 and visited both the museum and the factory. he does not own a Ferrari. He booked it through the consulat here in T.O. But he believes that it is harder to do this now....especially both the museum and factory. He has many pictures of both the Lambo and Ferrari tour which I may steel so I can scan and post ;)

Regardless, I hope you have a great time.

Last year Ferrari cancelled all factory tours for most of the summer (I believe from late April to end of August). Some say that it was because of the F1 team and some say because the F430 was in the works. I know a few people that got shafted because of it but now things are back on. From my understanding the factory tours are conducted year round except for all or part of August when everyone is on vacation.
