The other day i had driven my 95 F355 for about 30 mins then swapped to the passengers seat to let my friend drive. We were stopped so the rad fans were running. As i walked by the back wheel i felt a considerable amount of heat coming off of it. Very uncomfortable to leave my foot/leg there for more than 10 seconds. I went to the other side, put my leg in the same position, and there was heat but not nearly as much. Can anyone explain what may cause this problem?
If your water temp (center Gauge) is under 200 it is ok. Your oil temp Gauge (above stereo) should be around 210. The fans run on separate circuits, so they may not always be on at the same time.
yes, the gauges look OK, however, given that there are 2 sides of the engine, i worry that maybe the temp reader is measuring the "good side" and not the "bad side".... edit... but i guess they share the same oil / water resovoirs ....
I think the oil radiator fan is only on passenger side. So may feel hotter on one side, or if only oil fan and not water fan running.
On 348s there are 3 fans 2 radiator and 1 oil. The fans are in frt. of the rear wheels and vented via the wheel wells so you will always feel hot air coming out of the rear wheel area when the fans are on. If the temp guages are normal then you are ok. Regards, Vern
Thanks all for your insight. it was indeed the passenger side that felt considerably warmer than the drivers side. Thanks
