Is it for sale new? For sale used? Or just a show piece to get people into the dealership? Are these things like the FXX- a program working with the company to provide race venues and service- or is it just a vehicle on its own and you take care of the rest? It looks positively bad-ass.
This ..."experts" on that forum quote the engine as "Enzo motor"!!! Yep - the base is from the Enzo but while the Ferrari has only a chain-driven engine the MC12 has the much more advanced gear driven unit fitted! Also the suspension is different and better as with the Enzo who never saw the track as a race car while the MC12 was build as a homologation car for the BPR-Series. We all know that a car with road suspension has no chance on the circuit against race cars. So the MC12 was made from the 1st car on with a better suspension to match the homologation-rules. this means that even a "standart" MC12 drives circles around the Enzo. And this is the reason why Ferrari never permitted a track- or even road-test of both cars side-by-side!! Ciao! Walter
Thanks for the awesome pics!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Just wondering: is this MC12 Corsa program actually in action or did people just bought a nice MC12 Corsa to indeed showcase it? The program was going to be quite similair to the FXX one. And they have made about 12 in total or not? At least there is one German that drives his Corsa on the road. It's a street legal black Corsa (also found in this Maserati forum). But any other Corsa (not including the famous orange Edo Competition) is quite hidden from few, give or take an Auto Expo here and there. So what's up with this mighty car? It should be out there like it's FXX brother/sister. Or even better: they should be racing each other!!! Well, that might be just a little unfair to the FXX, i guess. But according to Walter we won't see any of that any time soon. Then again: Edo Compeitition has a MC12 Corsa AND is taking care of a FXX... Hmmmm. Anyone has there phone number? Anyway, where are they??? Anyone seen them racing recently?
It seems that the CORSA-program is not very supported by Maserati S.p.A.! Therefor I believe we will not see this car in any "race". And Ferrari will clearly NOT allow to see the CORSA driving against their FXX.....! Perhaps in 20 years.........! Ciao! Walter
That's very sad to hear!!! But it's also a bit strange that Maserati makes an awesome testcar like the FXX and let people buy it. But then they basically sort of let the 'test??? program' slowly (or rather quickly!) die out so people can't realy use there nice Corsa... Weird. No wonder the German owner of a black MC12 Corsa made it roadlegal! At least he can drive it then. Oh, and indeed the German (also German!) owner of a FXX (wearing race number 21) is also owner of the Edo Corsa. And if i understood it correctly, he's also the owner of the Edo MC12? Is he in fact perhaps also the CEO or owner of Edo Competition??? That indeed will make it all very clear One day this gentelman can't resist the urge to race his own cars against each other. At least i hope so! And of course he should make a video of it and post it somewhere. Thanks.
There are still plenty for sale new. It's a track toy not road legal in the US even under show and display. Terry had a real race one with History (Double Spa Winner) for sale which IMO is a much more interesting car. You're not able to buy the fully developed engine no matter what anyone tells you. Should you want to be put in touch with the guys that developed those engines let me know. This was the car that was at PBSCW. Looks great in Black. It was also on the track at Moroso.
OK, here again for the rest of the planet: No, the German owner of the Maserati MC12, MC12 "Corsa" and the Ferrari FXX is NOT ( N - O - T !!!) the owner of Edo-Competition. Different man, individual, character. He also has a different name than Mr. Edo. Ciao! Walter
Yep - they where sold instantly. But I assume as CORSE-MASERATI doesn`t seem to organize events for them, this customer-program is opsolete now. So perhaps some owners now want to sell their toys! A German magazin reported also, that Maserati S.p.A. doesn`t want to compete anymore when the MC12 is not competitive anymore. Seems that Maserati now becomes -again- a car manufacturer for the older people, who like it cozy and comftable.....! Ciao! Walter
Today buying virtually anything isn't a problem. I am besieged daily with offerings. I wouldn't pay up for anything. Look at the Bonham's Auction numbers last Sunday. The Hard Rain is starting to fall... Last time this happened 250 GTO's went from 17 Million to 3.5 Million. Open to offers... BAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA
Well, I saw the quality of cars with BONHAM and must say it was a veeeeery average quality. There was no real significant cars. Also - auctions in France are not so good than in "flashy" surroundings like Monao, Ferrari factory, Gstaad, Pebble, Goodwood etc.! The cars in Paris didn`t impress me really! Ciao! Walter
155 1928 Mercedes-Benz 26/120/180 S-type 6.8-litre supercharged Torpedo Roadster by J. Saoutchik of Neuilly, Paris Didn't impress you? How about this one: 123 1948 Cisitalia 202 Nuvolari Mille Miglia Spyder 017 In the beginning there are always those who tell us that the cold wind from the North means nothing. Keep dreaming and paying up. As Bob said "The Titanic sails at Dawn..."
correction - THIS car really impressed me! But the cars on display in the 2nd hall aren`t any good...! What will happen? Nobody knows...and time will tell! So, lets wait and see! Ciao! Walter
