I just picked my car up, love it!

But there is nowhere in the cabin to plug in my V1 detector.

    What have you guys done?

Waze is excellent in pinpointing fixed radars, hidden cops and road hazards as well as traffic jams, I have been using it for years.

Waze is not a radar detector. Period. It is totally dependent upon voluntary reporting by others who observe/detect things and that can be out of date. There is no single or perfect solution other than driving within the speed limits and even then ... if the policeman wants to stop you and ticket you typically you are SOL.

    Hello Robert,

You are very USA centric, don't forget I am in Europe and things are slightly different. The amount of data that people send to waze here is just amazing, even on low traffic roads debris on the tarmac, a broken down car, run over animal or cops who stop for an hour or two and install a temporary radar ("speed trap"). Yesterday with my gf we traveled from Provence to Burgundy and were laughing as everybody slowed down for BOTH fixed (permanently mounted) and temporary radars, EVEN THOUGH the latter were hidden, hence nearly everybody uses these Waze or similar. You have to realize the repression against speeding is very severe in Europe, far more fixed radars than in he USA and the driving public is fed up with being taken for a cash cow. Tuesday we saw two cases of cops hiding on back roads in Provence and EVERY car coming the other way flashed their lights to warn us even though it is supposedly forbidden now...By the way radar detectors and jammers are banned in most of Europe, big trouble if you are caught with one.
Your last sentence...only if he has a valid legal reason to otherwise you go to court. I won a court case like that, took six months.

Slightly is an apt adjective. This is a great topic for discussion but perhaps not here. I'm not a fan of using a cell phone in the car even if it's mounted to the dash. Yet another topic for discussion elsewhere.
The constant info alert of Waze is best monitored by a passenger.

you have heard of CarPlay? It projects the waze app onto your car’s infotainment screen. Makes glancing at the waze screen no different than glancing at your dashboard instruments.

I'm afraid that it find looking at the screen in my car dangerous as well. It takes a lot of time and concentration to look at the info and it's in the center and well below the top of the dash. Not good.
With two people in the car it's a different thing.

I guess the only way to have a V1 radar detector in an MC20 is to have it hard wired it?

Where to tastefully locate it? Perhaps a sticky Velcro mount?

The VR1 spec says 5.2W maximum, during alarm and this converter claims 8W capability, so if you go that way it should be OK. The VR1 apparently comes with a direct wire adapter, so you could mount the adapter out of sight and route the small RJ11 cable to the detector. I've never seen the MC20, but I have done this on a couple of other cars for older Escort detectors, which are similar (also designed by Mike Valentine).
