This guy is detrimental not only to the Dodgers organization, but to the fans as well. His idiotic ego and even more highly publicized idiotic divorce have been a true embarrassment to the league. Not only do the players, staff and trainers have to suffer here, but the worst part of it all, is that the fans have to suffer as well because of all this idiot's stupidity. The Dodgers are a phenomenal ball club with exceptional talent, and Matt Kemp deserves to be the unanimous NL MVP of the season. They have amazing talent, great scouts and very friendly players, unlike other teams. But of course, it all boils down to one thing, money. Unfortunately, this is a business before it is a game. The team has been under constant media spotlight all year because of this embarrassing and idiotic divorce. Andre Ethier, who is IMO, easily one of the best players in the game right now and a very nice guy to boot, has pretty much stopped caring or even bothering to play up to his potential. Granted, he should know better and owe it to his team to produce, I can certainly sympathize with him on this matter. He feels, like most of the Dodgers organization, that they are being unfairly mistreated and tossed around by the higher ups. No one knows the future of the club, much like the Mets. The problem is that when a greedy tycoon comes along and decides they wan't to put their grubby little mitts on a sports franchise, they can do as they please regardless of the outcome or who they trample over in the process. They are not even fans of the game or really give a damn if the team wins or loses, its all about profits. All sports is fixed one way or another. No one really knows what goes on behind closed doors. The only ones who should be able to buy a team, are true fans of the game. Mark Cuban is a good example of this. The man put his OWN money into the team and truly had a deep passion for them and it payed off this year when the Mavericks won the championship. He is also a very down to earth guy and is very friendly with the fans. Something these greedy bloodhound corporations know absolutely nothing about. Whew! That felt good
$2.15 Billion. Almost a done deal. McCourt's ex is gunna be pissed. http://content.usatoday.com/communities/dailypitch/post/2012/03/magic-johnson-buys-dodgers/1#.T3MPG2EgcQo A group led by former Los Angeles Lakers star Magic Johnson -- along with MLB and NBA executive Stan Kasten, and Peter Guber, head of Mandalay Entertainment, and financed by Mark Walter, CEO of Guggenheim Partners (a Chicago-based financial services firm) -- agreed to buy the Dodgers from owner Frank McCourt for $2.15 billion, a deal that includes the Chavez Ravine parking lots.
If I were the recent ex-ms. McCourt, I'd be crying myself to sleep over losing $1,075,000,000.00 tonight. But, congrats to Magic and his group, they should be able to turn the Dodgers around. If nothing else they made 29 other owners EXTREMELY happy today.
