McLaren 540 announced

To be fair, the guy at my dealership told me no 540 with a bit of a shrug. It's almost like he knew that they'll eventually bring it over, but has been told not to mention it for fear of losing 570 sales. Probably an awkward circumstance for the dealerships if that's the case, but I get the impression they'll do the opposite of everyone else and release the higher end car first and the entry level version later. McLaren seems to be doing things their own way, which is fine for me as long as the 12C comes down just a tad more

The British supercar builder has revealed that the new 540C will start at $196,500 in Canada, the only country in North America where it initially will be sold.... McLaren spokesperson JP Canton responded, “We are undecided at the moment. Essentially the car will be homologation for the U.S., but it is highly unlikely we will import it [to the US].”

 

Went to 570 launch event at ny dealer today. Told me no plans for 540 in usa. For now.

Btw, 570 is gorgeous. Better looking than 458. Or at least tie.
