I'd like to see this as well. I may try to pick one up and convert it to a manual.

I would bet the cost to convert to manual would exceed $50K, done right. Mind boggles at the fabrication required. Just getting a shifter in the cabin that will look good is a big undertaking. And I suspect the Powertrain strategy may have gremlins due to not knowing what gear it is in and trying to shift. But I think you are not serious

Sequence wise we are on verison 3. Mp12 650 and 570. They are all really derivations of one model honed further each time. Like a 430 was to a 360 etc.
We are a lot closer to a 120k 12c than you think. One can find them for 150k now, next year if not sooner they will be around 120K.

360s were 200k cars now they are 60-70k. a 430 when they came out 250k, now they are half that. Ferraris while current hold their value well then they plumet. The mp12 had a more rapid intial dpereciateion thana ferrari, but in the end its a superceded model like a 430 is, it will got o the same place price wise.

    120-130k mp12 or 210 570, intresting question.

I woudl love amanaul too, but the mclaren is a techno car, it is what it is, nt really changeable.

I do know someone thinkign of putting a cosworth v8 in a series 1 esprit, that will pretty much smoke everythign, and be way lighter, if interested.

570 is a different car not a successor to the 12C and 650.

  6. I'm actually really liking this, a baby P1. Sounds like $185k starting ballpark but it also sounds like a 540c might be in the cards as well priced around $145k starting from what the news sites are saying. Factor in typical Mclaren depreciation and I can't wait for either the 540c to drop towards 120k or for it to push the 12c toward 100k. Either way i'd be pretty happy. I grew up with the F1 being my childhood dream car so that would check off a box I never thought would get checked in my life.

It seems to me Mclaren is just rehashing the same basic car too many times.
The 12C, 650S, 570 and even the P1 are all based on the same carbon tub, 3.8L twin turbo engine, 7-speed DCT and integrated suspension technology. I'm not interested in the 570. I"m not interested in paying more for less. Looking at the relative prices of all of these, a lightly used, barely broken in 12C with factory warranty stands out as a screaming bargain that's hard to resist. I couldn't. I just got one and am loving it!

Marketing wise it may be different. But same tub same basic motor a reskin really with some ireelevant simplification. 12c has more power on paper. In reality in the market the 570 will be the sucessor to the 12c. They are not that different, maybe the 570 looks better. As to the hp deficit, it never held the 458 back when the 12c came out. The 12c was maybe just priced too high for what it was and where Mclaren fits in the scheme of things.

  11. Close enough, i'm still pretty excited. The 30hp difference just means the 540c's engine is less stressed and will last longer. For street use it's just about meaningless. I'm definitely more excited about the looks of this than the Evora 400.

Agreed that's beauty. The rear end might look better with a wing. Then you have a serious ferrari contender in the looks category.

Very nice, but I'm not sure about the rear window and engine cover area ... maybe the 650S looks better in those areas???

I got to see this car at a private showing at McLaren of Newport Beach (in fact, I believe it's touring all the McLaren dealerships). Impressive car, and frankly (and subjectively I might add), I think this is a far better looking car than the 650S.

Lot of cool extras on the car, I especially dig the optional but integrated 3 cameras (one in the nose, one on interior, forgot where other one is) that you can download not only the video but the car telemetry to a USB stick and transfer to your computer and review.

I think it's also (fully loaded) a much better buy than the 650S - I think this is the game changer car for McLaren. Time will tell.

    Awful looking.

The front has a dopey grin and the back looks like the designer just got bored and let an engineer finish it.

I didn't like the way they looked when I saw the first pics, but once I saw it in person I did a complete 180. At my local dealership's unveiling event there were a handful of 650S spiders there and the 570S made them look like something from the 1980s. It's a stunner in person. Taking one for a test drive next month and hoping to pick one up next year if all goes well.
