I don't know prompted me to read through 9 pages, but the original question was about Ferrari doing a 'lesser' car to compete with the 570/600. The 570 punches way above its class already and competes (numbers wise) with cars that are supposed to be much higher up the food chain, which would make it silly for Ferrari to make the effort. If anything, they have to make the 488 outperform the 570. Which leads me back to another point. Most of this chatter is just magazine racing, since most owners won't venture anywhere near a race track (which is sad). In all these pages there was only one guy that posted a video in his 570 at VIR. Good for him! He has the experience from the perspective of the car as well as his limits. BTW.....Based on what I could see/hear, I think most of your lost time to your buddy was coming from overcooking the corner entry and scrubbing off way too much speed. As a result you couldn't get on the gas soon enough for the next straight. For the most part your lines were good. I know nobody cares, but I thought I would just put some experience out there that may help in the future.
Here is a video of Drag Times review of the 600lt. Just a touch over 100 miles on the odometer and they are beating the crap out of this car. Break in period?? He comes to the same conclusion. 320k is too much for the 600.
I was thinking about the break in as well. If that car doesn't end up with engine problems, it will be a miracle! Additionally, the car won't be able to perform at 100% until it is broken in properly.
I agree. The visual changes from the 570 to the 600lt aren't quite enough to justify the price bump imo, but I do think the 600lt looks far better than the 720.
Just read that coupe production is done- no more orders. If true, that might keep numbers down to something interesting. Next model is also supposedly hybrid...
Whoa- that is less than I would have thought. I just checked, and my car entered “in production” status yesterday. Wondering if that means built in a week or two. Any clue?
That's exciting news! The worst part now is the wait. Look forward to seeing pics soon and congrats in advance!
I went from a Ferrari F430 Spider to the 600LT. It was a choice between that or the more expensive 488GTB, and frankly the 600LT is a more engaging car besides being more exclusive. I originally wanted a 458 but couldn't find a good low mileage one at the price I wanted to pay for one, so decided to take the plunge to a new model instead.
Great call! Love to see some pics when you get some time. 430 to 600 is going to be a great change. Love to hear more thoughts as you get more seat time.
You guys are a bunch of McLaren haters why are you even on this chat? Frankly other than the fact that they use the same basic platform and are mid-engine the designs of the 12C - 720S are very different, as are the 570S. Its like saying the Ferrari 360/F430/458/488 are very similar, which they are, but also different. 458 and 488 are actually very close in design. With McLaren you are talking about a relatively new company that only started making cars 8 years ago and has production capability much lower than Ferrari or Lamborghini, and a company that prefers not to dilute their brand with an SUV or a front engine luxury car (California/Portofino) or a shooting brake (FF/GTC4 Lusso). You just can't compare Ferrari?Lamborghini with McLaren at this stage, the company structures are totally different. I love Ferrari, but it is now a public company that cares about its stock price than its cars I fear, and Lamborghini is just another cog in VW/Audi's wheel, with the Huracan basically a fancied up Audi R8. I would rather have an exclusive cutting edge McLaren
